Hello

I am looking for suggestions for the best/quickest car from the 60s or 70s which is NOT a race car (so no Jag XJ13's etc)

I need it to be fairly light so it ends up under 800kg after weight reduction if need be.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 👍

My personal preference is

NISSAN - Fairlady 2000 (SR311) '68. Just short of 40 grand from the UCD.

A beast of a car when fully modded. It can easily beat a lambo contach.

What bhp can it be tuned up to? I see it is 146 bhp to start with.

The NISSAN - Fairlady 2000 (SR311) '68 is 279 BHP & 827kg when fully modded.

Hope this helps:)

Triumph Spitfire? I really like mine, but it's stock so don't know how much it can be modded...

Some options from my garage...purchased from the UCD w/o mods:

Lotus Elan S1 '62 - FR - 100 hp - 639kg
Ginetta G4 '64 - FR - 83 HP - 454kg
Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA 1600 '65 - FR - 109 hp - 745kg
Lotus Europa Special '71 - MR - 118 hp - 730kg
Alpine A110 1600S '73 - RR - 138 hp - 715kg
Marcos Mini GT '70 - FF - 73 hp - 559kg

Ones that could be modded to weigh less:
Mitsubishi Lancer 1600 GSR '74 - FR - 103 hp - 825kg
Volkswagen Golf I GTI '76 - FF - 100 hp - 820kg
Triumph Spitfire 1500 '74 - FR - 69 hp - 809kg

The G4 or the Marcos could be an interesting choice, being so small.
The MR and RR cars will oversteer like madmen...could be your thing?
HP numbers are without oil change.

Yeah, awesome car. I love the design also. I got amazed when I beated my best EK9 (Honda Type R 97) time at Susuka with stock settings.

I got/modded the Lotus Eiropa last night as i'd never come across it before. I think it gets up to about 270 bhp with a large turbo added, weight is 650-700 kg. Decent vintage weapon as it is also MR.

Golf Mk 1 mods up to about 230 bhp and quite light but FF lets it down in the corners.

Miura is very fast in the game but in real life it is a bit different. (car acts as a wing and you can not drive it very fast through corners)

Second vote for the Cobra. Premium too, and a blast to drive. Great fun for exploiting its advantage with smoky exhibitions through corners. If you go nuts on the power adding it can pitch itself sideways in 3rd for some giggles.

I used the cobra for most of the early game on my playthrough. It can maul almost anything. The bobs are slow in it though.

Another vote for the Cobra here. The Ginetta is quick too.

Does the Alfa Romeo TZ2 count as well?

'65 Alfa Giulia GTA. I fell in love with that car in GT4 using it in the 1000 miles series of races. It is also the car I was actually able to learn the "Ring" with. It is quick enough to where you have to pay attention, but not overly quick that you can't find braking points and turn in angles. Very fun car, stock or modded. I have 2 in my GT5 garage (one stock and one modded).

PLEASE PD, MAKE IT PREMIUM!

a fully tuned Shelby GT350 is real quick, its a little over the weight you requested though.Mine isn't FULLY fully tuned,it has 573hp and is around 1300kg's,when tuned properly its an amazing car but without a proper suspension tune its crap in the corners

The Mercury Cougar is a beast.

755 HP, 909 lb ft

1181 KG

WHAT!I must have done something wrong here lol, mines fully tuned an didn't reach 700hp....?
edit:i remembered i took the muffler off cause i didn't like the sound so nevermind
