Hi, I am new to Gran turismo 5 and I know that my question will sound weird to many of you, since it's a racing game.
1) Can you recommend any cars with relatively low engine sound, other than electric cars?
2) Can you make a car's sound quieter through tuning?

In response to #2, I know that different exhausts will produce different sounds, but I don't know if they can make the car quieter.

How about turning the TV volume down? I adjust mine according to car. And I switched the annoying music off long ago!

 Turned that off Day 1. Made me go mad :grumpy:

Jaguar E-type is really quiet, but that may just be my TV.

Stock exhaust are normally the most quiet ones.

As long as you keep the rpm low, most cars will be relatively quiet.

No 787Bs or LFAs for you.

toyota prius.. or did you want a quiet car that was also good? teslas are quiet but are electric

If you're not using the hood view the Grand Touring Garage 1970 Ford Mustang Trans-Cammer is very quiet. However, the transmission has that annoying whine.

In my opinion the Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STi '94, Subaru IMPREZA STi Prodrive Style '01, Subaru IMPREZA WRX STi Version '00, and the Subaru IMPREZA Sport Wagon which is based on the previous model, are all relatively quiet/soft as well. All use the same exhaust sound though.

Tuning can cut down on some of the noise, such as tuning out understeer and oversteer to decrease the tire squeal. Driving style has a tremendous influence on that as well.
