ralliart, an independent tuning firm that has long been associated with both aftermarket and factory-endorsed mitsubishi products, announced this morning that it will cease operations at the end of march.

“because of the sudden change of economy situation since the year before last, the business circumstance surrounding our company radically became worse and so, this time we have reached the conclusion that we ralliart inc., would scale down our business activities as of the end of march 2010,” ralliart said in a statement posted on its website.
Ralliart says that it will no longer support its motorsport customers or develop new products. It remains unclear what this will mean for the official ralliart-badged mitsubishi products on sale in the majority of the automaker’s worldwide markets, however. Mitsubishi currently offers high-performance ralliart versions of its lancer and lancer sportback in north america.

Not really surprised, kind of hard to do a lot of business as a rally company when you don't do any rallying. Still will be sad to see them go.

The article doesn't say they're closing, it just say's they're scaling back their business activities and ceasing support of the motorsport side of things. Closing and scaling back arn't the same thing, though in certain sitations one can lead to the other there is still a huge difference between the two.

People buying cheaper counterfeit "Ralliart" products made in Taiwan for their Mitsubishis certainly does not help profit, either. It's the same thing that happened with GReddy and Mugen, amongst others.

Well they do rallying, they [did] prep and build the Group N Evos, which are ten a penny, especially in national championships. If they were rallying they would have probably lost more money running a factory team.
