Well for those of you who do not know, this game is made by the people who made the ridge racer series, and this time it includes licensed cars. It also is a simulation style game, where as the other games in the series were very arcade in nature. It is scheduled to come out on the 19th of December, so I am starting this thread for anyone who wants to talk about the game. If anyone has any pics of the game or any other info, let us know.

Here's a few sites with pics and vids, enjoy.;)

This actually looks pretty good, although given the impending release of GT4, I'm getting shocking deja vu from the last Ridge Racer which came out with the PS2 here, in the run up to the release of GT3.

Has there been any mention of a release date?

I just went to my local Gamespot, today, and that is the day they are getting the shipment. ;)
Also, I hope the physics are really dialed in. I am in need of a game with good physics, so I can drift around in another game besides GT3, until GT4 arives.;)

Gamespot has stores?
Um.....Yeah. Where are you from, it sounds like you've been living under a rock. Anyway, anyone else know anything about this game? ;)

I live in indiana. The only game stores around here are EB and some little store thats with Hollywood Video. And no I have not been living under a rock.

Oh, I see. BTW, if you go into the Game Crazy, they will tell you the same date I gave you, so keep your eyes peeled for the game to come out on the 19th. Anyway, I think we should get back on topic. Has anyone preordered this game? ;)

They are owned by the same company. If you go to a Gamespot store, you will see that they use EB Bags sometimes to bag your games, and also some of the gift certificates that you get form a Gamespot will have EB on it, and on top of that one of my friends works at my local Gamespot, and told me that EB, and Gamespot are owned by the same company. So technically the same. I know that if you buy a Game at EB, you can return it at Gamespot.

Here's some more in game shots for you to drool over.;)

Well I wouldnt know that cuz I've never seen let alone heard of a Gamespot store. I always go to EB cuz its the best place to go.

Also those screens look kinda crappy. Hopefully the final game looks much better.

Well, it will look much better when it is in motion. Also, it's not quite to the calliber of GT3, but I think it will be the next best racing game on PS2, if the physics engine is dialed in.;)

Its EB (Electronic Botique) and GameStop, not Gamespot. Gamespot is a website. And EB and Gamestop are now the same. They are owned by 2 different companies. Gamestop is the same as funcoland. EB is the same as waldensoftware, EBX (Electronic Botique Express).

I for one don't like this change. The Ridge Racer seriesw as always about speed, drifting and that wholesome arcadey feeling. Mixed feelings about this venure into Sum racing for Namco.

I always found the other Ridge racer games, a little shallow in the physics department, but I loved the rest. Also, they haven't made a switch, this isn't a Ridge Racer game, it is merely made by the same people, so I think we will see more of the arcade style Ridge Racer games in the future. I am happy there is another game trying to emulate the GT formula on PS2. Competition induces creativity in designers, which inturn make better games. I think this game will be a first step for this series, and the next one (if made) will be much more refined IMO.;)

i just saw a review for this game on the gsn video game show(saturdays at 2-4pm or 4-6pm on channel 549 on starchoice)and it looks pretty cool.all of your opponents have a stress level and when u are really close the stress level goes higher and the higher it is the more they make mistakes, i've never heard of a game with that before.

Yeah, I saw that show today. I just hope the physics are a little more simulation than in previous racing games, from Namco. It looks like it will at least hold my interrest until GT4 arives.;)

how long is the game? is it another AM or TXR3 type which i finish under a week or a long ass game like gt3?

From what I've seen of the game in mags, and on GSN, it looks like there will be quite a lot of cars, a story mode, and an arcade type mode. So it should have plenty of replay value, unlike AM, TXR3, and NFSU. Anyway, it's comin' out in 4 days for the PS2, though it's already out for the X-Box. I think I may be getting an X-Box in a few days, so I may just get it for that system instead of the PS2.;)
