it all sounds pretty interesting but....
GTX obviously knows what the combo is...this would place the board on an advantage situation...no??

Rico

Other than the tires and lap length, no. I'd be the one to make up the final race specs.

Hi Duke.

on the torc talk entry, Is it possible to change the weight to minimum please, -10%. Leave the power at default. Sorry, but this one was cooked up a while ago when rules and prefferences were still being discussed.

Polls open! I anticipate leaving them open for about 48 hours, but that can be discussed.

hey all,

I know we can use the whole pavimented areas in case of lines limit of the tarmac...does this rule work also when there's a curb, so we can go beyond of that?
please answer asap...I'm referring to the 2 corners after t1 @ infineon...

Hi Rico / All.

Please understand this one was thought up a while ago. Before we took the GTRP database rules on board. Plus the open tyre issue and AI difficulty level are being sorted/discussed. So speaking plainly it's virtually a glorified 2 lap hotlap now.

Originally, the off track tarmac was there to avoid or pass the Opponent.
But not much point now. I'd suggest (if it's practical this late in the game) To keep two wheels inside the track limitations all the way.

2 wheels inside or on the kerbs
2 wheels inside the yellow lines
Not hitting cones (unless the AI has scattered them on track)

Would everyone be cool with this???

If this is impractical Duke, just leave it as it was.. all tarmac areas are OK including outside the rumble strips.

If you're asking for the opinions of other teams, I say leave it as is (all paved areas are track). If you're not asking, then disregard this post.

May I suggest to take picture of critical zone so we can explicitely see what is off-track and what is not.

Thanks Bobkart, yes I was kind of trying to put the feelers out.. But it's way to late for that. let's just run the bloody thing in whatever shape or form ;)
EDIT: 2 wheels inside or on the rumble strips/Kerbs and also inside or on the yellow track boundary lines.

That's the way I'd prefer it. To me it's clear where the intended track lies, particularly on that back chute in the Stock car configuration, and using the extra runoff room is approaching cheating (this came up in a series I competed in earlier in the summer).

However, I'm not driving here so I will stand by the way you prefer to have it.

Duke
. . . and using the extra runoff room is approaching cheating . . .
I would only consider it cheating if one person (or a few) did it while others did not, giving those few people an advantage. If it's allowed by the rules, by definition it's not cheating, and nobody gets an advantage, "it's the same for everybody", "level playing field" . . .

The best part of the NASCAR race is watching to see which driver will smash into the foam blocks at the edge of the wall in the first picture.

Personnally I don't like that way of thinking about racing. We are all racing fan and I think we all understand that a track is limited to inside-the-line, rumblestrips included. I also think we all notice that ANY driver IRL will never ever overpass those lines unless it's really needed to avoid contact with another driver on-track or if that driver did a mistake.

Personnally, I love to look like a real driver and respect every lines on the track. I played a little bit on X-Link KAI and every time I raced on Deep Forest (that's one of the best example I can give here), approaching the first tunnel (non-reverse track), I never cut to the very left of the track where the "virtual" limit is, where we can't go any further to keep the speed as high as possible. I will always stay on the tarmac and rumblestrips, as a real race driver would do. Yes, lap-time are slower, but who cares? I love racing simulation but we all have our part to do to have the best simulation. Yes, a game can have the best physics engine, if the player doesn't "cooperate", this game's nothing IMO.

As a compromize, I'd say that as long as there is AT LEAST 2 wheels (partial wheels included, in other words even if there is about 1.12985436 wheels) on the rumblestrips or on the yellow or white line, it's clean.

That's my point of view. 'hope you understand.

I'm with you, Mistral, and both of these areas have come up in a series in which I competed earlier.

So what's the final verdict, Tony? Are we keeping them in, or ruling them out?

Fwiw, I also agree with Mistral. But of course I also agree with bobkart. As long as its the same for everybody, I can live with it. Still, just look at the qualifying for DTM ... leave the track markers (which means the white or yellow line and curbs) means your run isn't valid.

Duke

The AI won't be so much of an an issue now so Drive it clean. Two wheels inside or on the rumble strips and two wheels inside the yellow line limitations.
No more bending That's Final. I'll delete that picture. huge appologies for the Hassle Duke and sorry to all the other team captians.
