This is very word of mouth, word is Race 07 is coming out Q2 2007, as a sort of sequel to Race: The WTCC Game. Rumour is Race 07 will have the WTCC 207 season as well as F3000, Formula BMW and 2 types of Radical race cars.

Sounds like it could be a great game if it follos Race's footsteops so lets wait and see.

More info:

"RACE 07 – a new game from Swedish SimBin, to be released on PC in Q2, 2007

After the intense action of the WTCC 06 season in RACE – The Official WTCC game it is time for a brand new “single seater” racing experience.
For the first time ever SimBin presents Formula cars, featuring Formula 3000, Formula BMW and in addition also Radical cars with the models SR3 and SR4.
But not only that, as the title RACE 07 signals, the game will ship with the full season of WTCC 2007, all the new cars and tracks are included as well as the 2006 season found in RACE.

RACE 07 comes with a bunch of new tracks and added track variations including new city tracks, alternate track layouts and reversed track option.

Several new community oriented features, game modes and online functionalities will be announced later.

To support these new race classes the player will be offered the choice between one- or two-race-format. Also the highly detailed damage system from RACE is adapted to give the Formula cars the vulnerability they have in real life. "

I'm on the fence about it.

The main problem with it now is that the consumers don't want to rely on Steam to play it.

Picked this up today, what a fantastic game! Expected disappointment like I got in "Race" but no, all types of racing are fun, the racing is close, action packed and the AI are very good.

Must buy.

Agree with all of that.

How mad is Macau?

Pretty insane, all the street tracks are:D Pau is fantastic to drive.
I've only ever driven the WTCC cars so far, with the odd mini race thrown in. I drive in cockpit view all the time, except when I'm on a street track. I don't seem to be able to hit any armco'd apexes from cockpit cam, and need to use bonnet cam.

Heh same, clipped many an inside right trying to get the right line. Done a few WTCC races, an F3000 race and driven most of the others in practice. Really love the F3000s, hit the nail on the head with open wheel physics.

I wonder if any of you guys can help: Bought the game last week, played it every day, never had a problem, nice a smooth running on mostly high settings.

And then today...

Grrr, any suggestions?

i just got the game today for 20 buks

and first time i try out a car in practice, then went online.. and WOW it was awesome.. first race i manage to get 5 th place :P lol since most people ram each other off at the first turn haah

its so much fun. i think its more fun for me then GTR2 online. and since its steam i bet patches will download automatically :)

so i click on one server.. and they it says i dont have an expansion.. theres already an expansion pack?

oh by the way.. i love the helmet cam.. but anyway to zoom in a lil bit? in helmet mode top and bottom screen is covered a lot by the helmet

I picked up RACE the other day, very cool. It's just what I expected, essentially GTR2 with a variety of cars. I'm loving the '87 cars. Only complaint is that, in some cars, the steering wheel or helmet blocks the gauges, which bugs me as I really don't like using the HUD. (And that the older cars don't have gear indicators, which is quite understandable, but I wish they'd put little "aftermarket" ones like in GTL.)

Haven't gone online yet, I'm still learning the tracks and cars.

Got my copy today and took Priaulx's BMW out for a Race (no pun intended) at Macau. Mucho grande fun was had!

i really enjoy the 3000 series and radical.. after driving them after few hours, going back to the lesser classes.. makes you wanna go back lol

Can't wait to upgrade and get a new desktop so I can finally buy this dang game! I saw a video of Macau and was blown away! I hear the cars in this game are pretty noob friendly and are very accessible....someone even said they're easier to drive than any car in Gran Turismo. Is this true? Are we talking Project Gotham-level of easiness? And can you drift these babies?

^^^Haha, last post Feb. 2008. Does anyone still play this? I just recently learned of this sim a few weeks ago. I downloaded it off of Steam a few nights ago along with the Race On and STCC expansion. I love it. For the price its well worth it. I'm probably going to get a few more expansions after I race with what I have for a while.

The physics aren't great, but they're good enough. The graphics are alright in my opinion and the the ai is lots of fun to race with.👍

Yeah, I play this, and I love it. The physics are still better than GT5 in my opinion simply because an early downshift will lock your wheels rather than have you bouncing off the rev limiter without anything really slowing you down, and lift-off oversteer is closer to what I think is real, though the tyres are somewhere between racing hards and mediums. Also the sound, oh my, on a good pair of headphones it sounds pretty incredible (compared to GT5, though, I admit that's not difficult!).

The free mods on nogripracing.com are well worth checking out, the T2L AE86 and the recent 300SL 'red pig' mods are two of my favourites, and there are some that add Porsche 917s, DTM cars, GT1s, so on and so forth. Some great track mods, too, the Pikes Peak one is a little, shall we say, Spartan, but it's fun all the same. Challenging in a McLaren F1 GTR.

I would say that for the price it's most likely the best thing you can buy on Steam, that is if you just get the base game. I'd recommend GTR Evo (for the 'ring), the Retro pack (I love the hill climb) and the GT Power pack just for the Zonda R, though, I want to get the STCC add-on and Race On for the F1 cars, but I've heard the latter isn't really worth it.

Oh and don't forget to get the Formula RaceRoom and the mod for 2010 F1 liveries, that's great fun and free.

Simbin has announced Race injection, an all in one package for 30 euros.

I love the game but it is kinda lame to do a "Race On 2" except this time it has nothing new, Race On had some newish things. Good for the latecomers that want the collectors edition of course but they could've simply lowered the price on the expansions and run bargain deals. :indiff:

The game is terrible. Race Pro beats it on all fronts. Why? Macau. Race 07 uses an old, unrealistic model of Macau, with some ridiculous bumps and arches in the track itself. They even forgot to add the brake markers. Realism? forget it. They haven't even mastered the tracks yet.

Why Simbin haven't made a new game with Lizard is beyond me.

This is the reason why I'm going back to Race Pro.

Dude, what you meant to say was probably "I prefer Race Pro because of these minor differences". It IS pretty much the same game you know.

I'm actually looking forward to getting that If it's released here in North America, I downloaded a game from Simbin today called Race Room 2 The Game(it's like a demo of Race 07 basically with 4 tracks and 5 cars) and I really like it, I'm not a PC gamer at all, but being an older game, my PC shouldn't have an problems running it and I can make an exception. It feels a lite more serious compared to GT5(GT5 is better in my opinion) and I like that. Like I said, I plan on buying Race Injection when it's released.

I have GTR2 and I agree GT5 now after 2.0 has somehow a slightly better feeling and better FFB. (Anyway the physics feeling in Gmotor 2 simulators can change from car to car and mod to mod). The biggest advantages of SimBin over console games are the faster AI, full race weekends, full flag rules, full damages, full grids. You can even run 40 / 50 cars on some tracks. And compared to rFactor you don't need to go mad with FFB settings. No leo + real feel + weird stuff to learn, which is great if you come from consoles. If your computer can keep it on 50 / 60fps, the new pack "Race Injection" is a great deal.

I'm seriously addicted to Race Room The Game 2 right now, I'm actually quite surprised how similar the physics are to GT5! GT5's are a little more forgiving, but they almost feel the same.
