Sort of something I remember from playing Tiger Woods back on the Wii.

Out in the real world, events are planned well in advance of when they happen, especially something as big as a race season. Venues, times, etc. are all known weeks or even months in advance. What I propose is to add a "Race Calendar" mode to GT and have the events for a given race series.

Example, NASCAR. The NASCAR season includes several weekends, which include qualifying, practice and the actual race. On the game calendar for February show me the Daytona race weekend. Have qualifying day, practice day and race day. Do this for all the events on the NASCAR calendar. Open this up to any series for which cars are included in the game, hopefully to include F1, Blancpain, SuperGT, etc. Each series would be selectable from a top menu, which would display it's own calendar with the option to combine a number of series on one calendar.

The events are only available starting the day of, not into the future. In other words if it is Saturday 2/22 I cannot start a race that is Sunday 2/23 in real life; I would have to wait a day. Past events would be playable openly and, like the seasonals in GT6, I can only post to the leaderboard in a 2 week time frame.

Rules could be the same as each series. If I qualify with one car I can't make changes to settings or switch cars without whatever penalty exists. Tire restrictions would be nice to have matched up with something close to their real life counterparts so I can see how close I can lap the track to the pros.

"Nice to haves" would include real time weather for major series, laptime tracking, maybe even a "watch the race in GT" feature that would include some sort of on-car tracking that translates into each car running in GT exactly (or near as possible) as it does in the real life race. Obviously there's a need for partnership and negotiation as far as broadcasting, etc.

Open for additional suggestions!

I like it!

Question: I'm assuming that for each of the real world tracks, we'd try to mirror the actual event calendar through the year?

Yes, in order to replicate the schedule there would ideally be an extensive track list available in game. With the current list I don't believe there is any series that could run start to finish on the real world counterparts.

It would be cool to have this as a seasonal event...you could have the Daytona 24hr, Daytona 500, Indy 500, ect.

I would certainly love to race the full distance for any event that can be replicated with any in GT6 assets...but running the whole season for any racing series, I'd say not likely.

It could certainly supplement or even replace seasonal events. Not altogether a bad thing. ;) We could run a NASCAR season as is with the current garage but to do Indy or GT, Daytona proto, etc we'd need to expand the car collection. I'm hopeful that come GT7 they will drop all or most of the standard cars and fill in the void with race cars to allow this function to happen, even if the cars are just "base models".

Additionally, the calendar function could be useful for a championship creator or online racing. You'd be able to setup everything ahead of time.
