Hi there everyone, I've had GT in my veins since GT1, but decided to ignore the coming of GT5 for the sake of not having it feel like forever until it comes out. Im at that point now where it seems close enough so Im all over these forums everyday again.

But has there ever been a hint or talk about finnaly having race commentary for sound options?(obviously would be able to turn off) I've always thought it was one of those important things missing in the series. It adds soo much excitment to the race(given that its put together well, which I believe only exists as of now on a few select F1 titles)

Maybe pit-radio talk too?

Ok I didnt search too hard but scanned and did not find any talk about this.

thanks for any info, Parker

The problem with commentary in games is there's only so much you can record, and with so many different situations to comment on, each event winds up getting not quite enough different ways to say the same thing so the comments start repeating early and often.

Well then I demand online play to include 2 open spots for people with mics to spectate and be commentary for the other racers to hear on their tv's! lol :)

Not too keen on race commentary I'm afraid, but I would like pit radio chatter to let you know whats going on around the track like "Yellow flags in sector 3" etc - like in the GTR games that would be cool!

Hmm...it's a though one, but I'd go for "No", for two reasons.

1. As said by Balocco, race commentary in games is very limited. In the case of NFS:SHIfT, I liked a lot when my team manager spoke to me, but it turned to be annoying when everything began to get repetitive.

2. In my view, it's something kind of out of place in the GT franchise. I've always seen GT a bit cold and machine-like, a bit devoid (though not too much) of humanity, and that's the way I've grown to like it. Race commentary will just be breaking the habit.

It was even worse in GRID because he would address you by your real name. Or "dumptruck" if your name wasn't one of the ones they included.

Do drivers listen to commentary when they're racing? I wouldn't mind pit/race engineer radio during race though.
Maybe commentary over replays if it could be done well enough and with a broadcast style replay mode with real camera angles (cranes/booms/helicopters/kerb/onboard etc. not flying alongside cars) and screen overlays with position and timing and stuff.

"Do drivers listen to commentary when they're racing?"

Do drivers listen to Snoop Dogg when they're racing? :)
Thats why I suggested it would obviously be able to be turned off, just as I shut up Snoop on GT3.

I was playing formula 1 CE today, and thought that it would be good to have some comentary in GT5.

1) replays have voice over commentary
2) ingame has pit crew comentary

so you are the driver and not watching tv... thats the idea of gt5 - so there is no need for that (apart from communication with you crew for example)

That is just not entirely true! When all the games have defaulted you with the "driver" listening to all kinds of music.. It would hurt nothing to add it, you for example, would be one of the ones that turn it off, as you do with the music I would assume.

Yeah Grid it was horrible

Hey Ace there is a crash infront of you ...and he kept saying the line every single race.

And this is exactly why I hate commentary in games.

We can see everything we need on the screen and the commentary isn't even entertaining.

"that hit got you a bumper" or "your car is a little bangd up but it's nothing serious"

hell no

^^^^ That sounds like a pit-radio conversation. Noone agrees that if it was done right, race commentary would add to the entertainmenr value? I dont know, I enjoy racing as it is, a motorsport. So just like I like my commentary on my football games, basketball games, soccer, ect, I'd enjoy it on my racing games to help add in getting all aspects of the sport.

👍 Yeah, good point. We are creatures of habit.

Though I think I might be okay with optional pit commentary in NASCAR and turn directions from the co-driver in rally events.

"turn directions from the co-driver in rally events. "

It BETTER atleast have that! I would think WRC would make that a un-negotional aspect of them being in the game. Maybe NASCAR too for that matter, but then again I dont know if any of the NASCAR games have had that before I dont play them.

Play Madworld for the Wii and say that again.

Then again, MW's commentary was for shock value and comedy, but you were too broad in your statement and I just had to do it.

Do note that MW is a M-rated game, by the way....

Yeah because I know commentary is entertaining when done right in games...

"He put a little too much mustard on that one!"-Madden, only funny because its something only he would say

"I THINK HE MADE CONTACT WITH THE BARRIER!"-you know who

Indeed. I think sports games generally have the best commentary.

Madworld was a major exception, but, then again, it was intended for complete comedy.

I would post a few examples, but I would get hard-banned so fast....

Exactly how I see it. If I recall right, there wasn't any lines of dialogue or anyone speaking in any GT games. Hearing a voice in GT would feel weird.

If they could implement it correctly sure. However that is next to impossible and I have yet to play a game that made it work. The main problem is that they just don't record enough lines for certain situations so you get the same repetitive line every time a certain event happens.

commentry is nice but it gets reppetitive and its not up to the driver to gather information on other teams its the team so they will be the ones listening to the commentry
i like the pit crew talking to you though
