basically i don't drive yet but once i pass my test (i hope i do as i'm only 16 atm) i'd like to know if there are any race lessons (or something similar) so i could improve my car control and awareness whilst on the road. Obviously i'd have to save up for it as it would cost quite a bit and i'm not going to get rich any time soon. Forgive me if a similar thread has been posted before...i'd just like to know if some sort of racing school or day exists for you're average joe that don't earn a lot and if so do they work?

Most race tracks will have courses you can take on how to drive on a track. Just don't try to drive the same way on the road as you would on the track... :scared:

CAT Driver Training do courses that contain advanced road training too. 👍

thanks for the info guys, it's much appreciated and don't worry lol i'm not going to race on the streets like a blithering idiot. Thanks again 👍

Donington and Rockingham are quite close to you and both have race experience days through the same company (http://www.racing-school.co.uk/index.asp) I'd go for the single seater for £110 but the rally & 4x4 for £160 looks good, they even do junior drives upto 16 years old in a Mini Cooper S for £75.

Also Trackdays.co.uk have a huge variety of track experiences, I've used them before and thought they were pretty good.

thanks for the help. Will look into these later in life, will look into the junior races though, would love to give it a go:tup:

Any high-performance driving class will be invaluable to your driving skill, so long as you don't think it makes you invincible. Legitimate classes are pricey, ranging from $500-$1000 per day in the U.S., but it's money well-spent. I took an HPD class last year, and it has saved my bacon a time or two, as well as improving my overall street driving.

I don't know about the UK, but here in the States there is a program called "Street Survival" which is specifically geared for younger drivers, to teach them car control and emergency response.
