As the title says Ive been having screen juddering at the loading screen and blank screen when you try to take photo sometimes.

Screen juddering: After you pick your car and then pick the event you go to the GT screen with the race lineup 1-12 scrolling across the top of the screen like normal. However every now and then during this loading screen the names scrolling across will start to judder a lot and the load bar fills very slowly. Ive let it fill all the way several times but it never loads the race. It just sticks on the black GT screen with an endless loop of the lineup scrolling while juddering across the top of the screen. Only solution is to quit and restart.

However its been happening more frequently now. Before it used to be after a few days of playing. Now its an hour or a few hours of playing. Is this a YLOD omen?

Blank Screen in Photomode: After I pick the angle, focus, shutter speed etc and click to take photo like normal every now and then I get a blank screen with the usual option to hit X to save photo etc. I press O button on controller to come back out and retake pic only to have it happen over and over and over. I come all the way out of Photomode and go back in and then I get the pic showing up. Then it happens again. Id say its happening at least 2-3 time during a photomode session now. Again the frequency of it happening has increased along with the screen juddering I spoke about above. I started noticing both of them after a past patch a while ago.

I have optimal cooling and the disc is clean. My fan does NOT run loud on the Playstation and it does NOT feel excessively hot to the touch so Im sure its not overheating. Ive backed up my data to the PSN cloud in case I get a YLOD I should be able to download the data onto a new PS.

Any feedback is appreciated. If you are compelled to hit me over the head with the "search" stick :) please at least link me to the thread as I have not found it with my search words.

When I was having problems similar to this, it was my hard drive dying. I transferred my saves to an external drive and installed a Hipstreet 500gb drive and everything went smooth after that. Not saying that's the problem but if your disc is perfect, this could be the case. If you start noticing various corrupt data or game save files in the future, this may be the problem.

Thanks for the reply CDJW. So far no problems with corupt data only those two problems. Ill keep what you said in mind as the Playstation does make some disturbing noises at times. But its been making those noises since brand new. Had it about 3 yrs now. If it is a HD problem maybe its an excuse for me to tryout one of those SSD's.

I am having exactly the same problem that you have with the screen juddering. Mine mostly happens when I enter that Nurburgring Track, German Event, in A-Spec Extreme.

Snake: I don't think a SSD will work properly. The PS3 is even fussy about some regular hard drives because of the way they buffer. There are forums discussing which hard drives work properly but there are so many different opinions I didn't want to chance it. That's why I bought the Hipstreet 500gb because the included drive will work without a hitch. It was worth the bit of extra money for the peace of mind.

No. Don't worry about it. That is a glitch with custom music that PD keeps fixing and breaking every other update or so. Nothing to do with your PS3 or your HDD.

Thanks for the reply guys. Ill check out that Hipstreet HD CDJW just in case. Thx for the info.

Toronado thanks for the heads up. So it may not be my HD then. This sucks. They also keep unfixing the little menu fixes I liked like the curser automatically going to LSD or VLSD when you push to the right in the tweak menu. Now it just skips over those and goes to the dyno graph. Lots of other things like this they keep screwing up lol.

What about the blank pictures? I just did a few photo sessions with my Veyron and almost every time I got different color blank screens...Something is broken with photomode.

Kenny mine happens at any track. Its happened at Trial Mountain, deep forest, Monza etc. Just random tracks.

Just stumbled onto this thread because I'm having the blank photomode problem too. Got very worried when people mentioned potential hard drive failure...I've only had my Slim PS3 a matter of days! I've also been copying a lot of songs to the HDD on my PS3, and occasionally one track (out of several hundred) will show up as corrupted data. Should I be panicking?

On an aside, Toronado, I've just switched off the custom BGM, and everything seems to be running much more smoothly. There seemed to be a bit of lag on the menu screens, but that appears to be cured now I've turned off custom BGM?

Not trying to scare anyone about the hard drive since it's probably rare. It's just frustrating to try a lot of fixes when it can be the hard drive the whole time. That's what happened to me. My PS3 was under 2 months old when the HD went. They use Toshibas which aren't very reliable.

Okay, thanks CDJW. I was just getting a little antsy, having finally shelled out for a PS3 (Slim one as well, which I'm told is more reliable) to potentially find out the hard drive is on it's way out after about a week of owning it, haha! :)

I'm getting these problems too!
