Race Mods: What are these, I've only played GT3!

In GT2, once you took a standard car, and did all of the weight reductions possible, you could select "race modification". [for most vehicles] The "race modification" usually gave your car a wing, racing paint scheme, and body kit. It was a cool way to take a plain ole civic, slowly build it up, and finally turn it into a full blown racer.

Racing mod was an option in gt and gt2, where you bought all 3 weight reductions and then paid about 80000 credits for a modification that made your car a race car.
(like a body kit)

hope this helps

No, besides the weight reduction.

And the adjustable downforce. They'd be welcome to return, for sure.

Consider it a Stage 4 weight redux, with adjustable downforce thrown in.
I will argue that a lot of the Race Mod Color schemes were downright hideous.

hrmm! so that's what I've been missing out! I've never played GT or GT2...only discovered the GT series wtih GT3...and I love it....

Yea if they do make a come back with race mods, I'd like to see some more decent colour schemes and an actual better selection of racing mods you could do with your car. Like an idea I had a couple of days ago, was say you got hold of an Impreza or Evo, you could either choose a Rally or Road racing circuit mod. Sounds stupid, but there would be differances like I've noticed with rally imprezas, they generally look differnt to Circuit racing Imprezas. The circuit racing imprezas tend to look a bit more beefier. Just a stupid thing.
And also getting to customise your colour scheme on your impreza would be cool.

What I love so much about the race mods was you could adjust the car to any way you want, to make it more compatible with the other AI cars. This way, you could make the game more challenging if you wanted.

With current race cars in GT3, you can't use "sport" or "semi-racing" parts. Having this option with the "racing mod cars" helped you a lot when you wanted to make a car that was equal to the performance of the AI cars.

The best part about racing mods, in addition to the above, was the ability to adjust downforce. I love a lot of downforce with my cars. I love going fast around turns, and not so much for top speed.

Finally, I loved how the racing mod cars looked, compared to their standard counter parts. I think every guy dreams of modding his favorite type of car into a racing car.

Oh, something I ought to tell 12Sec Civic I don't know if Wal-Mart has made it to Alberta yet, but any of the bigger discount department stores with an electronics department should have PSOne games.
GT2 should be there for about $14.96 USD. If it's over $20 look someplace else.
You won't care for the graphics, but it's still a lot of fun to play.

[edit]
you should be able to pick up the game and a memory card for under $30.

Get hold of a picture of the race modification on the GT2 Lexus RS200/Altezza RS200 - one of the very best.

Oh, and the GT2 Tom's Chaser too. Mmmm.

And GT2's Audi TT (shame the car sucked ass). It looked better than the TT race car they had!
