The newly formed Team HLM has announced today that it will be competing in the 2006 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series GT Division. Cool... although the Crawford DP04 is butt ugly. :yuck:

And BMW announced they will be back in the ALMS next year with a pair of PTG-entered M3s. They are the first to be entered in the new S2 division of GT2.

GT2 next year with no factory Porsche, but a few customer Porkers, a Risi Ferrari (or two - fingers crossed), Panoz and BMW. Can't wait for Sebring.

ahh you beat me :grumpy: J/K I was just going to post this news but you got here first so thanks 👍 say, you think you could assist me in updating the news? you could do one series and I could do the other.

Sure. As long as I can do the ALMS/LMS. :) I don't want to open up a can of worms, but I'm not crazy about the DPs.

While I'm at it, here's the list of cars with automatic entries for Le Mans next year:

LMP1
Champion Racing – 1st Le Mans 2005 -will Audi give them a R10 to race?
Champion Racing – 1st Petit Le Mans 2005
Pescarolo Sport – 2nd Le Mans 2005
Pescarolo Sport – 1st LMES 2005
Dyson Racing Team – 2nd ALMS 2005 - doubtful they will go
Zytek Motorsports – 2nd LMES 2005 - well-deserved after they were shut out of LM in 2005

LMP2
RML – 1st Le Mans 2005
RML – 2nd LMES 2005
Paul Belmondo Racing – 2nd Le Mans 2005
Intersport Racing – 1st Petit Le Mans 2005
Miracle Motorsports – 2nd ALMS 2005 - good to see they'll be back at LM, they're from the same Florida county I live in
Chamberlain Synergy – 1st LMES 2005

GT1
Corvette Racing – 1st Le Mans 2005
Corvette Racing – 1st Petit Le Mans 2005
Aston Martin Racing - 3rd Le Mans 2005 (1st non-Corvette)
ACEMCO Motorsports – 2nd ALMS 2005 - will they even be back in ALMS?
BMS Scuderia Italia – 1st LMES 2005 - going to FIA GT with Aston Martins, will they race at LM?
Convers Team/Cirtek – 2nd LMES 2005

GT2
Alex Job Racing – 1st Le Mans 2005
Alex Job Racing – 2nd ALMS 2005
White Lightning Racing – 2nd Le Mans 2005
White Lightning Racing – 1st Petit Le Mans 2005
Sebah Automotive – 1st LMES 2005
Scuderia Ecosse – 2nd LMES 2005 - glad to see they'll be back

It's entirely doubtful Dyson will go to Le Mans next year because, on top of their extreme distaste for the ACO, they'll have a pair of completely untested AER-Riley P1's running out of their stables.

ACEMCO is also doubtful as a Le Mans contender. They've been disgusted with Le Mans and the Saleen restrictions and it was only through the ALMS's clarity of sight (and desire for a fuller grid of RACING cars) that the narrow wing and engine restrictions were lifted on the Saleen this year.

It'll be good to see the Fields (Intersport) at Le Mans, though. They're out of Dublin, Ohio (stone's throw away from me) and are one of the hardest working club teams in Ohio. Them and Michael Shank Racing (Pontiac Riley in GARRA) are proof of the caliber of teams Mid-Ohio produces.

okay 👍 . you can do the ALMS and I'll do the GARRA. I recommend checking frequently.

Update: 11/30/05

Grand American

Micheal Shank racing confirmed today that it will field two Lexus-powered Daytona Prototypes for the 2006 Rolex Sports Cars season. The team, which scored two podium finishes utilizing a Pontiac power plant in the Mears Motor Coach machine of Mike Borkowski and Paul Mears Jr. in 2005, will become an all Lexus squad in 2006.

UPDATE:12/04/05
Grand American
Cheever racing will enter a team in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve, battling for the 2006 Daytona Prototype championship and a Rolex 24 at Daytona victory, announced by team owner Eddie Cheever Jr. 1998 Indianpolis 500 winner will drive at the Rolex 24 at Daytona with 2004 Rolex 24 at Daytona overall winner Christian Fittipaldi, and a third driver to be announced. Continuing a relationship with Toyota, that began with the 2005 indycar season, Cheever Racing will compete with a Lexus-powered Crawford.

Update: 12/06/05

Grand American:
During the two-day hoosier Tire-Test at Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve, a field of 20 Daytona Prototypes and Six GT machines combined to drive 10,000 miles on the 2.3 mile circuit. The No.2 Pontiac Crawford unofficially set the fastest lap in Monday's afternoon session with a 1:13.966. The No.02 Lexus Riley was unofficially second quickest with a lap time of 1:14.065 in the morning session on Tuesday, and the brand-new No.23 Porsche Crawford unofficially posted the third fastest lap time of the test days in Monday's afternoon session, a 1:14.090.

Add one more to the ALMS LMP1 grid, as Duncan Dayton has announced his team, Highcroft Racing, has purchased one of the ex-Dyson Lola B160 (MG EX257) LMP675 cars and will campaign the car in the ALMS next year.

Also, according to Autosport, the works Courage team will ditch their Judd engines for Mugen power for their LC70 LMP1 cars next year.

lthe front looks like the old Panoz...

I will continue to never understand why they put two humps instead of just behind the driver. You'd think it would affect aerodynamics but what do I know. :dunce:

I hope it fails miserably too.

i think it's cool! i've alos watched a video from the audi website which includes footage of the R10 testing. It sounds....interesting :sly:

The new LMP1 regulations require a second headrest/rollbar. I don't know why, because it's not like they even have a space for a passenger, or are required to do so.

Also, check out www.mulsannescorner.com under the news for more photos. (I don't have anything to do with the site, but it's a cool one to check out for info and photos of LMP cars.)

What is the diference between a GT2 and a GT2S car?

GT2S is a sub-category of the GT2 class in the American Le Mans Series. It's mainly for sedan-type cars. As of now they can't race at Le Mans (who knows in a few years?) They'll be competing for GT2 points and podiums in the ALMS nonetheless.
