As I saw on Speed Channel's "Speed Report" last night, the 2007 Race of Champions will take place this coming weekend in England. There is no real thread covering this weekend's ROC. So what I decided to do is host my first thread devoted to the Race of Champions. You're free to come in here and talk about this year's Race of Champions.

To kick things off, the American contingent will consist of Travis Pastrana(?) and one of my favorite NASCAR drivers- Jimmie Johnson. Care to continue?

It's a damn shame we lost Colin McRae this year. :( He was awesome at the ROC events.

Schumacher vs Gronholm vs Bourdais vs...
Forget that shambolic Croatia business, proper entertainment is coming to Wembley Stadium a week on Sunday, as the world's top racers prepare to go head-to-head in the Race of Champions.

The first time that the ROC has been hosted in England, this year sees the likes of Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Andy Priaulx, Marcus Gronholm, Heikki Kovaleinen, Tom Kristensen and American X-Games champ Travis Pastrana competing for the title of Champion of Champions around a temporary tarmac track on the Wembley pitch.

They'll all be racing in the Aston Martin N24, Abarth Punto S2000, Ford's Focus WRC car and the classic Audi S1 quattro Group B rally car.

The track itself took 60 people five days to build, as some 1800 tonnes of tarmac were laid on the Wembley turf. The one-kilometre track includes a bridge jump, and should provide plenty of opportunity for tyre-smoking showboating.

The Wembley Race of Champions is dedicated to the memory of Colin McRae, who won the event back in 1998 and was signed up to compete in this year's race before his tragic helicopter accident in September.

Top Gear spent the day at Wembley getting to grips with the track and chatting with the racers. Find out what it's like to lap the Wembley track with Marcus Gronholm... in an Aston N24

I'm heading down there with 6 mates so will be able to post some pictures and maybe video next week sometime.

Alister McRae has taken his brothers place and will compete in the Race of Nations with David Coulthard.

Does anyone have any idea of UK tv coverage?

2 Aston V8s in a stadium is going to sound cool.

Sounds like a craking event, I wish I could be there, or at least watch it on TV.

Winner Below:

The winner of the Race of Champions 2007 is Mattias Ekström for the second year running!👍

Congratulations to him, I wanted him to win from day one:tup:.

My favourite part from the event

The tribute to Colin McRae

My second favourite part from the event

Michael Schumacher stalling his car on the start line

It really was funny seeing him stall.
But i think Eckstrum was better in the cars, while Schumacher was better in the Buggy.
You could really see that in the final that Schumacher couldn't keep up while driving the closed cars.

He even said so himself in a interview that he likes open cockpits rather than closed ones.

Well i came in to ask when a repeat was on cause I missed it.

Got 2 free tickets for it (God bless Euro Car Parts), was great fun - definitly agree that the Colin McRae tribute was the highlight of the show. Awesome driver, and that engine was real old school.
