I am carrying some tradition from myself and a couple friends by holding the fifth annual Race of Two Worlds. This edition will be a little bit different. Unlike years past where it was Formula GT vs. LMP, this year is all formula. Formula Gran Turismo vs. Red Bull X2014 Standard. The track: the high banks of Daytona for a week long battle leading up to the final 500 mile TWIN races. This is not for light-hearted funny car fans. This is for keeps. The regulations are simple enough: 750hp and 650kg. 16 drivers for each chassis will be allowed, where we boil it down to the final 8 of each chassis. Points will be awarded for each qualification race and each 500 mile race based on PDI's point system. Who's up for some high octane summer fun?
So, here are the ways it will run for 2014:
-The event will be contested over seven days, with the preliminary grid holding a hopeful 32 entrants. Each chassis will have 16 competing, no more than that. Elimination races will be run for five of those seven days, limiting the field to the final 16 drivers that will compete in the final two days of the event. The final two days will have one 500 mile race each, with 8 from each chassis competing for the overall win. The driver and/or team with the highest total of points at the end of the week will be declared winner of the 2014 Race of Two Worlds. The driver, if American, will earn a $50 PSN card. If the driver is international, then other ways of award will be organized with that driver as deemed fit between champion and event organizer.
