Has anyone else noticed how some AI cars are placed incorrently on the race results screen? When I finish a race I always watch how the race result board fill up as all the AI cars pass the finish line. It happens regularly that an AI car is dropped a posistion on the board even though it has recorded a better overall time than the car above it. It doesn't seem to influence our race but it's really annoying. It's such a basic thing that I cannot believe how it slipped through.

Better overall time could just mean they went faster on most laps, but still dropped down a place at some point due to sliding off or something like that? Or are you taking about endurance races?

He's talking about when two AI cars finish a race very close to each other, sometimes they change positions at the very last second and the game doesn't register it before the finish line, then you have someone who finishes in front, when he crossed the line behind the other person. (Like an AI gets 10th place at 4.059 seconds behind and 11th place finishes at 4.026 seconds behind)

This happened online to my friends in a private lobby. They finished closely, however the 2nd placed driver was awarded first, and the splits even showed 2nd place as being up on the first placed driver.

Hmm, let's say a car has an overall time of 05.100 and another has an overall time of 05.101. Wouldn't that mean that the car with the best overall time would be the first to pass the finish line of the two?

I'm talking about A-Spec events in general.

I noticed this once in A-spec indeed. It was not a really small difference though. Something like half a second.

Only if all cars start from exactly the same position which is impossible, you are forgetting to take grid positions into account. A car can start from 12th position and run a faster overall time than the poll position car but still finish behind him due to the fact he actually started the race a few seconds behind.

I've seen it too, with non-trivial time differences up to 300ms.

It's pretty sad.

It's true a car in 12th position can run a faster lap than the car in 11th position but I don't see any way that the car finishing in 12th position can record a better overall time than the car finishing in 11th position. If the car in 12th posistion should get a better overall time then it would have to overtake somewhere and finish in 11th position. The gap in the grid doesn't play a role as they all have to pass the same finish line.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

I haven't noticed it myself but I normally press X as soon as I cross the finish line to move on.

Coould it be that the results board shows the cars in the order they were in when you finished, then don't re-arrange to reflect what has happened after you finished?

No. It rearranges even after I finish, but doesn't rearrange to show position changes that happen extremely close to the finish line.

I once finished an online race .059 seconds in front and it showed me in second on the board, played second place music, but showed the person in first finished .059s behind me. (There was a - sign, which denotes "behind by". The + sign denotes "ahead by")
