Race Screen Question | Weight Displacement?

Section 8-1 in the in-game manual displays the Race Screen and what each section on the screen is called. I would like to direct your attention to number 15, which is the Speedometer and Tachometer. There is this bar underneath that which shows what I'm assuming has to do with your weight displacement. The bar is like this: (Please ignore the underscores, which I've attempted to mask. I had to include them to get the overhead numbers aligned properly.)

I'm pretty sure that bar isn't your g-forces because I did some fishtailing to test it and my g-forces came up as .43 when I got had clearly gotten the bar past 1 on one of its sides. My question is, what is that bar called and what is it actually measuring?


Edit: On a second look that's not a "0" in the middle. It's a "G". So it's looking even more likely that it does indeed measure g-forces. However, what still doesn't makes sense to me is if it's past the 1 why is Speed Test only saying I made it to 0.43?

It's measuring G-Forces, whip around in an Indy car or X1 to see the full effect.

I respectively still doubt that because as I said in my OP, when I was measuring g-forces in Speed Test it only came up as a Max. of 0.43 when the bar was already past 1. I do realize that whipping around in the Formula Gran Turismo, for example, it will go all the way to the 2.5 range because those car are designed in such a way that they can handle that. I just don't think it's measuring g-forces because of the whole Speed Test thing. Which is why I think it may be weight transfer or body roll instead. If I may ask where your source of information is, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Does anyone know what name of this thing is? I really would like to refer to it by something other than "it", "thing", or "bar".

.43g is acceleration in the forward/backward direction. that meter is for sideways acceleration.
 
It's a G meter. It's called "the G meter" and yes its measuring Lateral G force .
 
What they said, speed test is acceleration G-Force where the bar on your screen is lateral.
 
Speed test only measures your forward G-load while under acceleration.
 
That makes sense. Thanks guys. I think this question is answered if a mod wants to lock the topic.
