Heyo, I'm fairly new to the game, had it for a while, but I've never thought of the game as more than a method of killing some time.

Recently I've been really trying to develop myself as a "racer" - I went on to get myself a wheel, so..now I'm hooked :) I'm having a blast with all the different seasonals, but I want more!

I see that there is a thing called GTP_, but that seems like it's for a bit more of an elite group of racers, is there an option out there for bad drivers like me? I tried a little searching around, but it just made me more confused. :scared:
I'm looking for circuit and TT's mainly.

Cheers!

The WRS has the Academy / Rookie Racing series which is aimed at newer drivers, includes instruction and is definitely not just for elite drivers. Join the GTP registry and check it out.

The GTP registration seems like its pretty hard. If I fail to qualify as a GTP-member, how long do i have to wait before i retry?

This group are dedicated to helping newbies out, they are your best bet. Follow the link, have a read, & then sign up with them.

I'm pretty sure the only reason you would be refused entry is if you were a "bad" driver and when I say bad I don't mean non-competitive. I mean a driver that does not follow good racing rules and etiquette.

If you want to ask a few questions then head on over to the dedicated forum for the WRS. Ask any question you want and the folks there will be more than happy to assist.

The best thing about the WRS is that folks like WRP001 actually help drivers to increase their skill and ultimately competitiveness. The WRS is definitely not a club for elitists but it is a club for those that want to enjoy racing at it's finest and want to be amongst others that race clean and fair and are willing to offer any help they can to others.

Have a go, you really won't regret it 👍

If you want to start with the baby steps of GT maybe post that you're looking for someone to train you on the basics before joining a group. Best bet is to probably spend as many hours as you can playing the game and understanding the physics. Do not allow yourself to always get the fastest car, and don't force anything with the AI. Training starts with how you play the game in general.

Just like firearms, if you don't get any good training at first, you'll never be a good shooter without knowing the fundamentals. There are many helpful people out there. Ignore the pot sturs and find quality people to race behind.... yes behind... Let yourself get use to watching other people's lines that are faster, and memic those lines the best you can. Preision is #1, Consistency is #2, Temperment is #3.

I am gonna give both a try! Thanks a lot for all the great feedback guys. I do really appreciate it, can't wait to start practicing, either it's the AMGs, looking at TT-replays or racing on my own versus others online. Hopefully I'll be able to race alongside you guys one day.

Have a good one!

I've found the GTP WRS (GTPlanet Weekly Race Series) people to be a good lot. They're very helpful, friendly, polite, and the instruction hour that proceeds the Saturday Rookie race can really help you with proper (fastest) driving lines, braking points, and more. You will have to make a new PSN account with the GTP_"RACERNAME" name and start GT5 over again from scratch (which is annoying but required) but you can friend your main GT5 account and share cars that will help you get back up to speed. As long as you drive clean I can't see them rejecting you. I made my GTP PSN account about a week and a couple days ago and I'm already back up to Level 33 A-spec/25 B-spec with about 400 cars in my garage and several million credits. Just share your money making car from your main GT5 account and use it in whatever Seasonal you use to get credits. I use a 500pp de-tuned Opel/Vauxhal Calibra in the 590pp DTC seasonal to make cash. Two races and I was Level 20 with 2 million credits. After a few days you'll have your full 200% daily log in bonus and the rest is just doing the races and buying cars. Good luck!
