Thanks to Skill's link on his Website for Type S (which is looking absolutely fantastic), I checked out Racer.

And it is brilliant. Amazing physics engine!
And better yet, there are add-ons for this game.

I highly suggest Sim fans check it out.
The Graphics are extremely desent and very nice.

Be sure to read most of the pages on the website for a better overview. :)

Man, You're late to the party!
Racer is old. Very old. It's not bad, it's just... not really that good.
The problem with Racer: Physics updates that makes old cars undrivable, so you're stuck with cars that don't work.
Really inconsistant quality of cars/tracks. Some are great, others look like.. well, you know.

But, if you're going to play it..


Download the RX7 and NSX Type S Zero that I converted with a few other people :D
 
So the physics updates make it so the older cars don't work?
Can you still download new cars and keep the older physics?

And I had a feeling it was old. It looks old, but sometimes, old things can still be fun.

BTW, does this support any wheel or strictly keyboard?
 
Get the version in the RSC forums, it has an in game configuration thing for Wheels and such.
I can play it with my DFP.


No, once a physics update is done, any new car afterward will come out with physics for that version.

SOME CARS can have updated .ini files (the car settings, tuing file, whatever you call it)
You just have to pay attention to the RSC forum.
 
Alright. I'll join there and ask them some more about it.

I see a bunch of betas, but just the 5.0 from a few years back.
 
The current (Atleast the one I have) Is 0.5.3 Beta 1.6

You have to stay on top of the betas, because they're basicly full versions anyway.

Ruud (the maker of Racer) is crap at correctly labeling things.

It's only going to be betas until 0.6.0
 
Well, I stumbled across Racer actually about 2 years ago, but never paid any mind to it until I became bored. Aftewards, I lost the link and moved on to "other" things like school.


But, I will definately give it a go, since my GTR Championship season is over until next month (I do one every month or so now) so I need something to do. :)

Because I am the crapiest player of GTR yet. I'm still learning on the DFP, so it'll be a while before I head to the Online world of Pros.

Thats fine, I raced vs Juuso (You know him!) and he sucked, and I didn't laugh at him until he blew up his S7 :)
 
Racer is old. But it was pretty decent when I played it. Although, it was full of glitches, some of the cars didn't work properly, I had problems with the wheel and so on. Nothing special.

:lol: I have to regain my reputation. Would you mind if I joined you? (if you race at a reasonable hour for me that is)
 
I used to play this, I stick with GTR now, but it's recently stopped working right probably an addon I've installed wrong so I need to sort that out. I'll happily race anyone online, I'm not the fastest, but at least I don't blow my car up.
 
I tried Racer ages ago and even with a keyboard specific config, the handling of the cars felt wrong and a bit crappy. Yes, yes, its only a keyboard but I've been using keyboards for games for years! Had no problems in games like Live For Speed.
