I'm mostly an online racer, that's where I go for my challenging races of course.
But I've never played a racing title that's had AI that was actually consistently challenging. Kinda bums me out But that's fine because I realize how difficult it must Be to write the code that manages AI drivers.
GT5 wasn't exceptionally different AI than the previous GTs so it of course only left me wanting more again. The only way you can challenge yourself is by handicapping yourself and trying to drive a slower car to win. It's fun sometimes but it got old for me.
F12010 was alright in that the AI fought you but you could easily beat the hardest difficulty by knowing where the AI took slow corners on every track.
I didn't get very with Forzas but it was much better to me than GT - flakey.
I just tried GTR for the first time and it's close, AI's fast but they make some pretty questionable moves when racing on the limit.
rFactor's definitely has the speed for their AI. The hardest AI setting drivers are blazing fast but easily beaten once you learn the track and don't put up much of a fight.
I have a question though. What racing game have you come across to have the most engaging , difficult, fast, consistent AI to your liking?
I know no one game's gonna have "the best" AI but I just want to hear everyone's favorite or preferred AI in a racing game.
