It's an M3 powered BMW 320i, not an Esprit. Heck, the dashboard gives it away.

not only the dashboard , but the height of the car first of all.

the sound is a normal sound for a racing sequential transmission.

and... that guy CAN DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 👍 👍 👍

Not exactly. The sound is the gears, not the gear selection. That transmission has straight cut, or otherwise known as "dog" gears. Straight cut gears are very loud, but very VERY strong. Thats why many race vehicles use them. Noise isn't an issue when racing, power delivery and durability is.

In normal street cars, the gears are "helical cut" not "straight cut" like this. Thats why street cars are much quieter, and many race cars are not. But many, if not all, manual trans street cars do have a straight cut reverse gear. Thats why when you reverse in a manual trans car, it has that loud whine if you go kinda fast. Just imagine that, but in all your forward gears, and you have an idea. Just a little info.

Interesting, how can a website have it so wrong...

Is that Rolf Van Os in his BMW 320 STW?

I hate that video. I absolutely cannot watch it with sound. I wonder how the driver puts up with it.

btw, the filename i have for it is Assen-bmwSTW.wmv. I have no clue where they got lotus from. There's even a pic of the beemer in the lower left before the race starts.

With a helmet on you can't here most thing anyway, I've experienced it.

Definitely a candidate for watching with the sound off.
I've heard racing gearboxes in videos before, but that one is by far the worst.

Does anyone know the name of the track, and if it is Rolf Van Os or not? My accurate file naming obsession must be satiated.
