Racing cars modifications

If GT4 is going to be a better simulator than GT3 engine modifications and turbo upgrades to racecars should be banned. the idea of having a HP limmit in race cars is the main reason for categories. i understand that in GT3 the there was a smaller number of race cars and by increasing HP in some of they competition availability was increase. in the best interest of becaming a real simulator that practice should stop. for example: a suzuki escudo is a 2500 cc v6 engine twin turbo @ 900plus HP, the turbos in this kind of engine must be the size of a basketball each. then a turbo 4 upgrade that increase the engine output as much as 90% must be the size of a 20in tv set each at least, and dont forget the amount of boost needed. in the case of a nissan r390 the whole vehicle is designed to handle the amount of HP that the engine originaly came with. an increase in HP to 1100 or more means that in real simutation the parts wont hold and the vehicule wont perform at its best. if iam going to boost an engine to that limmits at least i should have better brakes and suspension parts available too. personaly i dont like 1000HP lmp cars racing versus F1 cars because in real life that wont happend. same goes for 1000HP jgtc cars racing versus lmp or gtr cars, it doesnt make any sense. in the case that modification remains it should be for cars that are restricted in real life to be part of a category example: mclaren f1 in jgtc and saleem s7 in gtr.
 
i have always thought that you should not be alowed to give the race cars horsepower upgrades. just leave the race cars as they are in real life.
For example a 1200hp toyota gt one while fully posible would not last more then a few laps on such high boost and the amount of fuel it used would be very high indeed.
 
Wow, 91 views and only one reply? If you think about it, I think horsepower shouldn't be a problem in the first place. I think it was nice to have more power to make it work better. I think if you took the Castrol Supra from GT3 and given it a Stage 2 Turbo, it would have as much HP as the Castrol Supra in GT1. So if you need the extra power, I say go for it. Now, I think racing modifications should also entail engine modifications. I'm not talking about the Engine and Turbo modifications, I'm talking about engine swapping. Think about it. Why keep a stock motor in your car if you are making your car as an exclusive racer? I think you should be able to heavily modify your car for racing.

When you lighten your car to level 3, I think you'll need to put in roll bars, racing seats, and (you might like this idea), be albe to customize what kind of functional bodykit you want. Don't get on me about "rice," think about being able to "carbonize" your car like in Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3. The dry carbon modifications allows your car to be much lighter and much more dependable. To me, if you wanted to make different degrees of racing modification, Level 1 would be the basic modification. Then, Level 2 would be carbonizing the hood, mirrors, rear wing, and the paint from your modified race car will be included so that it doesn't look like a Spoon Civic in terms of color flow. Level 3 would be carbonizing the entire car, and adding a much more powerful engine. you will still be able to modify the engine, but you can purchase the extra motor for racing events. That's my "proposal" in terms of racing mods.
 
If GT4 is as accurate a simulation as they say it is, people will quickly learn why race cars don't have 1100bhp.
 
I'm not sure about the validity of that comment. I think many car classes don't already have such high bhp figures because of restrictions being put on those car classes. The F1 cars used to have Turbos in them for instance, but this was banned later. JGTC cars are limited to 500bhp and 300bhp for the GT500 and GT300 classes respectively.
 
Many older race cars had over 1000Bhp, the reason thety still don't isnt because it's not faster but it's not allowed in most circuit races. In competitions that do allow it, you still see it look at the Pikes Peak unlimited class 800Bhp+ is almost the minimum.

Good point!! I would guess power restrictions in certain series races would add to the realism then?!?
 
They would but personally I found them a pain in the ass in GT2. I'd have to swap out turbo boost levels to get under HP limits with my car, I'd rather just be forced to use a specific model and tune it to the limits of that model, or not at all.

Early 80's Formula 1 cars had over 1300BHP and 220L fuel tanks. These days the cars are still near the 1000BHP mark even with all the restrictions and engine reductions. Monster Tajima's Suzuki Escudo Pike's peak does have over 990BHP (it was at the Race to the Sky in NZ recently), so high BHP cars are still very much in use, where allowed. One also has to remember that the internal combustion engine wastes about 60% of it's power as heat, these figures were probably worse back when these high BHP cars competed, so these days they'd run even higher or at least at the same level with less fuel consumption.
