On GT4 Racing Hard tires or Racing Super Hard tires was a must when driving endurance races.
Racing Soft tires got worn out after 2-4 laps.

Now I've tried my first endurance race in GT5, which was Grand Valley 300km/60 laps (very boring though).
But I've made some experience with the different tires.

I started off with Racing Soft, I drove a Zonda Race car and got laps on 1:42-1:45. I managed to do 7 laps before I had to pit to change tires.
When I tried Racing Hard I did laps on 1:50-1:55 and had to pit after 8-9 laps.

So my question is:
Is it always better to drive with Racing Soft in any race?
It's much comfortable too to drive with Soft tires.

I'm level 28 but so far I've only used soft. I don't think most of us will ever run into a situation in an endurance event where the race is so close that you need to worry about tire/fuel strategy, unless you want to make it more of a challenge by using a slower car.

I tried hard tires, and didn't see any benefit as the soft tires seem to last a long time as you said. Plus in endurance events I get bored and my mind starts wandering so its good to have a little more grip when you miss a braking point but don't fly off course.

i think it all depends on your driving style... whether you are agressive or cool... and also the driving aids... if you are hot or rarely use driving aids then the soft option would be better... but if you are cool and rarely spin the tyres up the hards can definitely last for more than 8-9 laps... :)

Well my b-spec guys do most of the endurance racing. Sofar most races soft does just fine since they baby the tires anyway, they will more often than not need to pit for fuel rather than a blown tire.

Lest until you get to nurburg 4h then you better run hards cause that is one track that they will wear the tires fast, even hards do not last until they need fuel.

Racing softs are better than rain tires in the wet too .

I have the same opinion.. Feels kind of unrealistic.. I drove on a rainy monza.. The rain tires was not good at all so I did a pit stop to try the intermidiate tire.. that one worked better.. But then I tried the racing hard and I was a lot quicker. The rain wasnt pooring down, but the tarmac was really wet.. Doesnt make sense..

Even when the rain is coming down hard, softs are the best. I mean you can't drive like you can when it is dry, but you can push the car a lot further than you can with rain tires.

I believe the going theory for this is because the game defaults all events to 'low' slick track settings instead of 'real' as is available in practice mode.

So really rain in A-Spec is pretty unrealistic.

Totally agree... 👍 PD need to work a little harder on this part of the game..

ummmm 4 laps? racing softs on my FGT on grand valley lasted me a good 16laps. And this is the first time i had used the FGT so i spun and burned the tires a lot
