Hey,

I just got x-port and am busy working on my lap times in order to get a bit more well known in the OLR field.

Ive submitted on racing line already but was wandering which site would be the best to use for my lap times ?

Or would you just use both ??

Thanks

BigJ

Big James, You'll find that alot of the people listed on the sites are listed at both places. With 10+ GT boards out there, you'll find that many people hav a home board, and then list their times at both forums.

My vote: both, and pick up a bit of your own webspace to host all the replays. SImply to catalog them and make them available. What's nice, is that in a few months, you can go back to those replays and use them as a measuring stick.

well you see eventually Im going to need to get some serious advice (and lots of it) in order to get my own webspace and keep my replays on there. Im not even going to ask the first question that comes into my head when I think about it !!!

Ive got two clean quick lap replays but I need like a dozen or so, I reckon to even warrant getting my own website ( there I go Ive just presmued that having your own webspace means your own website ?? ) and putting the stuff on there. We'll see, but for now I'll post replays on both.

👍 Der Alta

For arcade cars I post times at GT.de
For all-out track record attempts, or if my time is in the top 20 for a category (in the points), I post them at Racing-Line.
All other oddball runs, like ones we do for the WRS, I post at GT3 Times just to puff up the database a bit.

There is one key difference between the sites.

All entries in Racing-Line's database must be done in Free Run mode only - no race lap times (so no slipstreaming). This doesn't apply to the GT3Times database. Also note that GT3Times allows Licence and Time Trial times with touches IF the game passes you. Racing-Line does not - 100% clean only.

They are both great database sites...

In addition to the differences described by Famine, GT3Times also maintains a database of fastest Race times. i.e., total times for multilap events.

As for GT.de's Arcade database....too damn fast for this ol' midpacker ;)

I submit my times to Racing-Line, I think it's the best place for your lap times. It has clearer looking time boards, active moderators in the forum and time board etc. etc. etc.

I think the Racing-Line board is a little better than GT3 times so far from my experience. The Gt3 times board is better looking but Racing line has more info for the racer IMO. However as Der alta said, it might be best to use both to get the best experience.

It's really hard to say that one is better than the other, for the reasons posted previously.

They are, however (along the GT.de's Arcade database), the best record sites on the 'Net.

I think I'll continue on using RL for now. Ive kept all the replays though so one day in the distant future I might bombard GT3times with a squillion lap times

Overall, Racing-Line is my favorite because of the way you get points for any top 20 times, the green checks for verified times, the way it is organized, and it seems to be policed the best between the 3. Bobkart does a nice job at GT3 timmes too of course, but there are more mods involved at Racing Line I think. I can't tell what the hell goes on at GT.de since all the posts are in German, so I just post my times and go about my buisiness:)

It would be really cool if we could get a database started here when GT4 comes out. Has anyone ever asked Jordan about this? I'd be happy to help keep it up to date if we could get one:tup:

Way Kool! 👍 Would make GTP even better than it already is!

As to GT3Times the only problem I have is with the 2 Hour Enduros. They show the time ONLY which means LESS THAN NOTHING without the NUMBER OF LAPS COMPLETED!!! :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: Otherwise an Excellent Site as are the others mentioned above 👍

@BigJamesGTI: Welcome to the Glorious World of X-Port!!! A purchase you'll never regret having made! 👍 ...UB57 :D

Cheers UB !!! I love the x-port. I see your name on the boards quite a bit over at RL, you got any tips for Laguna ???

CFM - I was thinking about suggesting a boards facility here, it would keep many more people interested in the site as they would have a huge list of times to look at and they wouldnt have to leave GTP to see them !!
A thread in the suggestions section is on its way I think !!

I don't see anything wrong with visiting the other sites, especially among the people who still activally play GT3. Many OLR regulars are members of all the GT forums, and regularly "make the rounds" each day.

It's a very strong community (despite the rumblings that have occured in Board Challenges past), and each Gran Turismo site has something to offer to the Gran Turismo community.

GTP is currently the most active in OLR, followed closely by GTBN.

Racing-Line and GT3Times (and GT.de, for Arcade) are the database sites.

GTX (members formally from the GTF) is still very active in GT4 (and is home to The359's GT4 Master Car List, which he mirrors here), Motorsport (real life Racing), and "Open Road" (discussions of real life cars).

House of GT was just revamped and has some OLR activity, as well.

As far as adding a record database to GTP (or any of the other forums that currently do not have one) I think it would be a daunting task, plus eventually, you'd see the same names at the top positions that are already entered, for GT3, and for GT4 once it's released.

I don't like GT3times cos they cheat.

48.703 for midfield in an F1 car, no cheating? No, my friend, no.

Pretty strong words...care to back up your claim of cheating?

FWIW, 3rdgenracerX's 48.703 (#1 at GT3Times and at Racing-Line) is most assurdly legit and verified.

GT3 Times does not cheat. GT3 Times cannot cheat. GT3 Times is the name of the website. How can a website cheat?

The odd dodgy time gets posted, but it's not long before it's noticed and deleted, and the user banned if he's stupid enough.

Here's a video of a 49.0 sec lap at Midfield (0.3 slower than the record)

Just 'cos you can't do it, doesn't mean that no one else can.

I know that people will still visit other GT sites and theres nothing wrong with that at all - I just though that GTP's very own board will encourage people here to stay here for longer thus increasing our member numbers and encouraging people to stay here once thay have registered and seen the boards we would have

Sorry to break it to you, but if 3rdgenracerX enters a time you can be 100% sure it's legit. The guy is an F1 specialist. I've seen is Monaco run and it's farking amazing. Any suspicious times are always queried and either get verified or deleted.

Hiya BigJamesGTI:
:D Sorry for the delay answering, been away from the PC for a few days. As to Laguna..."Master the 'Screw" is the best advice I can give. With most rides I brake early, "Coast" for just a bit to let the front end "Bite" & then blast on thru. Just be VERY Carefull NOT to get 4 tyres "OFF" thru the right kink!!!...UB57 :D

Well Im going to have another run today - I often find myself pointing at the sky with the front end through the corker.

And as for the delay - you should be ashamed of yourself !!!! ;)
