I bought a Playseat Evolution, not bad at all, although the bar that supports the Steering wheel, is a bit awkward & the seat is quite squeeky, other than that couldn't fault it.

playseat evo as well. great seat. yes its squeeky but very adjustable. bolting a 3 hundred dollar wheel to a tray table makes no sence to me. a good seat is very important. playseats have a seat slider like a real car seat, very handy.

I'd going for a bucket type seat then I'd suggest a recliner type. The race seat is only adjustable backwards and forwards and after an hour in the chair back ache sets in. It's not comfortable but I've got used to it now. I have tried a recliner version and it's so much better, perhaps not totally realistic, but it does the job. 👍

I showed my lovely wife the racing seat...

So she suggested that I buy a racing seat, and build a mount for the seat and wheel.

Any suggestions for a comfy seat for a bigger guy? I'm 6'4" or 195cm.

Cheers,

I'm 6'1 and my setup works perfectly for me. I think that it is more comfortable than many of the pre-built setups. Plus, if you read my thread, it didn't cost me all that much to build it.

Still need to finish it though.

People will say otherwise but the Visionracer VR3 has the PERFECT driving position, love mine
As awesome the VR3 is, it's a $1000 chassis! I haven't spend that much on my entire setup including the cost of the PS3.

I'd check a junkyard for a seat. Look for later model cars, preferably with leather seats. I got a leather seat from a 2006 Jetta for 20 bucks. I don't use it because I decided to purchase an rSeat EVO 3, but if you're going to build your own rig, you might as well be frugal about it.

I'm 6' 2" and I bought a Corbeau FX-1 Wide racing seat (29501w). It's 2" wider than a normal seat and is very comfortable when put on a rSeat EVO V3 frame.

Did you place the FX-1 in the same mounts as the stock seat or did you have to modify it (is it side mounted?).

Also, I have the same height with a 38" waist. Was the regular Evo V3 seat too tight or just uncomfortable?

I purchased just the frame from rSeat and altered the seat brackets (easy) to accept the Corbeau Seat (which has both side & bottom mounts). I am a bigger guy, 6-2, 225lbs, 40in waist, and found the standard seat was a tight squeeze. I have read reviews where people with 38" waists like the feel of the seat. I like the extra room so I think it"s a personal thing.

Thanks for the reply. Rseat told me the same, that I'd fit but said they could send the V3 frame only for $350 + $45 shipping if I wanted. Not sure if I could add a seat that mounts on the bottom (I prefer them because they are wider and can be adjusted) without sky rocketing the price.

You could just get an old car seat, and build the frame of wood. That way it will fit you perfectly, and you have extra money for new games or whatever. ;-)
