Racing seats, comfortable?

hey guys,

I have a 1972 el camino and am looking for a more sporty, more comfortable seat for it. As of now it has a bench seat that is very ratty, (it has ductape over holes). I was considering a racing seat, like the reclining/sliding ones. Does anyone have them in their car? are they comfortable enough for a daily driver? Or does any one else have a suggestion for a seat I could put in it.

Matt

Try and get hold of some Recaros - they're the best going for comfort and support.

Yes, they are very comfortable.
I've got some of the R1 Racing Sport racing seats that are a nice, bright red for the eye candy a boring Cavalier needs.
They slide (when you buy the brackets for them), and recline like the factory seats and are a must for any car with suspension mods or racing.
I drive my car daily and even when our team goes to different states to play, these seats keep me happy and in the seats. I don't have to make as many stops as I used to. :dopey:

These are what I have and am glad I got them. Like said, you can get just about any color combo you want and I chose the all red for the eye candy. Besides, they look so much like the Sparco's I can't afford.
Here's a description below:

I've know quite afew people who have those seats, they're quite nice for being a mock of the Sparco Torino. I have found one problem though. Their seat brackets are horrible for seat positioning. You don't get the low down slug in your seat feel, I've find the rails to be pretty high. But not a problem that can't be fixed. Just get a different set of rails.

I have a Sparco Milano. I find it quite comfortable for driving around on a daily basis as the backrest is adjustble. Road trips however are a different story, being that I'm a pretty small girl, and I don't quite fill up the seat. The lumbar support is horrible, any drive over 2 hours would kill my back. So I bought the Pneumatic Sparco lumbar support cushion. Now I can make a cross country trip in comfort.

Most of the racing seats I've sat in have been quite comfy, Momo being the most comfy ...

Only ones I've dislked have been APCs ...

Yeah, the APC's look nice but are seriously heavy.
On the R1's, the rails do bring them up a bit compared to others but when you're car is lowered by 2 inches, the extra height of the seat makes it a bit easier to get in and out of the car.
My car has a high roof line too so that doesn't make much of an impact either.
Get the seats.

I've got a full fixed bucket, and it's not at all a problem for daily driving. Once you figure out how to get in and out, it's great. The only problem is actually at the track, the tube frame is a really crappy setup. So, if you get a bucket, get a Fiberglass one, not a tube frame.

i have a cobra clubman, it's really nice even though it's a low end "good" seat. it doesn't have the shoulder supports that some have, but the recaros in my mates wrx squeeze my shoulder blades together and it's kinda uncomfortable

i have seen some really crap race seats which are just t-shirt material over bars, i wouldn't reccommend one of them. the most comfy seat i've ever been in is a Velo race seat, it was more comfortable than my bed, i'm not kidding!

That's the way they should be, comfortable.
What you should do is to test fit yourself to some racing seats you see in some cars.
Some ppl may allow you to do this as they want all to see just how comfy they really are.
I've done this plenty of times with mine and ppl come away with them as being very comfy.
The Cobras make some of the finest seats I've seen. A true luxory racing seat, the Cobras aren't cheap.
Sparco's are my favorite. They've pretty much taken over the market from the likes of Recaro, which was the benchmark for years.
