I think we all remember the era before pcars/rF2/AC/R3E. It was GTR2, rF, nkp, iracing (I leave GSC and the few other ones out...). And most of us were dreaming of a new sim (era) that would combine the best of everything.

So, pcars started and AC and rF2 and R3E and... iracing is, well still iracing.
Now, with most of the titles nearing a more finished/polished state, I think it all boils down to the following:

iracing = Best multiplayer experience
R3E = Best sound experience (cockpit, external and replay)
rF2 and AC = Best if you are looking for modability
pcars = Best dynamic time/weather system, car graphics and FFB
Forza = Best environment/track graphics
GSC et al. = Best nostalgic experience
And, if you want the worst of everything but 1000 plus cars (and decent lighting) = GT6

Can we agree on that?
What, I forgot something? Physics? Who cares... ;)

I don't agree with most of that. As for physics- to each his own. Each claims to be the best, closest to real and has numbers to back it up. Most of those numbers are fabricated.

The online with AC is horrible- warping, high pings and poor driving are rampant. Since it is so poorly set up for league racing, there's no opportunity for serious league racing so the racing sucks. There is no online sim racing in any game worth a **** unless it is set up beforehand, everyone is practiced and is ready to race. AC supports pubby racing only because it lacks the tools and features for league play. AC looks terrific and sounds great, has good AI. The realroad is very simplistic and is not adequate for modern sims.

rF2 has the best online with minimal pings, no lag, no warping. You can enter T1 with anyone from around the world and you never have to worry about the netcode. It is just that solid. But very few are playing and the game looks dated, sound is bland. the realroad is the best- it profoundly effects the racing. AI sucks. There is random weather and rain as well as a drying line. The FFB is a revelation and will rethink what you think good FFB is- if you have the right wheel for it.

R3E sounds OK (about the same as AC) but I don't have a lot of experience with it. Very few people do. I'm pretty sure there's no RR or AI racing or weather

pCars- ? It's not out yet. I can't judge a beta.

Forza & GT6- it's not a sim. These games should be judged against each other and not sim racing games.

GSC- same as rF1, just a great mod of it. No RR. No weather. Not moddable. Good AI

rF1- no weather, very dated, no realroad, AI is terrible. The ultimate in moddable sims.

iRacing- never tried. No AI, no offline, no weather.

I also don't agree with the OP. A lot of that has to do with the fact that you could cherry pick your complaints with a certain title if you look hard enough. I going to be honest here and say that even though GT is the closest thing that I have ever played to a racing sim on that list, I can say pretty much with authority that a lot of the games on the list are PC only releases, meaning that they don't have, and probably never will have a console release down the road. I just don't believe that you can get a good racing experience on a PC without a wheel (which I don't.)
