Ok..this being a Gran Turismo 4 formum isnt all that appropriate for my quastion, but I noticed that most of the people in here are car nuts anyway so I ll just go ahead and ask.
Could you help me with finding a good, reliable site dedicated to racing videogames? I 'm sick and tired of reading ignorant mainstream reviews about a genre which most reviewers havent a clue about
 
GT is the only racing game....the only one you will ever need....most other games are arcady and encourage Ricing instead of Tuning...IMO don't bother with other games, as fun as they may seem...but hey this is all coming from a car nut on THE GT forum....so take it as you will hehehehe...good luck! :)
 
wtf? I suggest you take a look at some more PC sims.

in this case... ignorance is not bliss

there ARE other good racing games for car nuts out there, some even have areas in which they excel gran turismo, i would highly recomend pro race driver 2 and kaido battle 2 (import) both are a blast for car nuts.

i agree with the Toca game...that is a pretty cool game but personally, i refuse to play any game but GT....idk why i do it but i do...hope no one thinks i'm a closed minded idiot cuz thats far from the truth...i respect all racing games...i just don't think they are on par with the GT series...i am a hardcore racing fan and tuning is my life....i think about it from the moment i wake up till the moment i fall asleep so thats why im so partial to GT...but i appreciate ur links Glitched...i'll look into them :)

Yes, don't play fun games! Play Gt3 and be bored to death!

How can you know if they are on par if you don't give em a friggin chance. You are being closed minded. GT got owned ages ago, as far as I'm concered GT4 has a lot to make up for.

Tuning is your life eh, well you slap a stage 4 turbo on your car, some "sports" tyres, and a level one weight reduction. Something tells me that GT may not be the best tuning game...

If you were a true hard core racer, you would play other games, for example GPL, possibly the best sim racer ever (makes GT look like mario kart in terms of realism). OFC theres richard burns rally also...

to tell the truth, i wasnt to excited about toca when it came out, but i pulled out my DF wheel, and in to time flat i was racing bumper to bumper with a rather large field of cars with really great AI that acknowledges your presence and knowing a wrong move can damage you, even put you out of the race completely, its a real rush, a blast, i found myself giddying like a little school girl during a few intense races.

yup i've noticed that...i guess my problem is ive been playing GT so religiously that i need to "get out more" when it comes to games...i've tried most of the driving games out there so i know what they're about...i don't know IM SO CONFUSED NOW! ALL I WANT TO DO IS PLAY GT4..... :( As for GT tuning...i know its not all that realistic...im talking about in real life...thats what i did all thru High School...and i am a GT gearhead tho i only have 3 cars in the game with a stage 4 on them cuz i hate big power on cars...low to medium with the occasional over 800 hp for some spice...anyway, i'll shut up now cuz i got hw to do so i'll post more of my "bogus" GT theories later :dunce: later all!
 
Hello, Francescop1. I am John of Houston, TX, USA. Nice to have you on GTPlanet.

To be passionate about this, I have played mostly older racing games, but the most recent one I played on my PC was Sega GT, but my computer just seems to lag when I play it. Other than that, the best PC game I've played is the older game "Sports Car GT." And in case you're wondering, it has Porsche (I'm not attacking GT). I've even taken blank cars and modified the bitmaps of them to make customs. But the SCGT community now is pretty much like the Duke Nukem community- an endangered species. I'd find Sports Car GT at some bargain bin and play it if I were you, Francescop.

But if you don't have the money or performance for it, I don't know much else.
 
TOCA is giving me now some serious fun! :D try it if you can. You don't know what to believe when you can play against 20 other cars with no slowdowns in a PS2: 5 opponents in GT4 are going to be... the same story again. And TOCA has a more than decent online mode, so what has Kazunori to say about this point? We know GT4 cars are modelled in a better way, and I love that, but maybe they should focus more on playability.

Richard Burns Rally is a great game, VERY difficult, VERY real (not playable without a steering wheel), but graphics are poor, maybe not in graphic detail, but those 30FPS are just ****. Does anyone knows if the PC version has a decent framerate? (i just bought a new PC and still has no games in it :D:D)

F1 2004 is not the biggest racing game ever (everyone in this forum knows which one will be ;)), but official licenses make it worthy to try if you have a steeering wheel (again, as in RBR, dualshock control is a crap).
 
The pc version kicks the crap out of the ps2 version (rbr).

Is there any compatibilty requirements for rbr on the PC? Cuz I live in the US, and dont wanna mod my PS2... I was wondering if I could play it on PC, cuz it sounds really really good!
