Yo, I'm just a casual gamer, but love GT5. I'm half-@$$ decent with the DS3 controller, but was considering getting a wheel (especially since my wife likes racing games, I can get away with it).
Any advice on a brand or if it's worth the $? Thanks

I'd recommend a Logitech Driving Force GT for a starter wheel. About $120. But-if you want to go big first-I'd recommend a Logitech G27. Around $330 range (:scared:).

Driving force GT, every time.

Ya I did the research last night and those two were the ones that caught my eye, 330 is a bit steep for a game controller but I could swing the 120, does it include the pedals as well or no?
Thanks for the advice anyways.

I'd go for the G27 from newegg at $160 there is no way you can beat it!

Edit: They don't have that price anymore, if I were you I'd go with the Fanatec 911 Carrera Wheel, clutch, 6spd shifter plus the adjustability there is no better deal on its range!

That sounds sweet, I'm sure it'll take some getting used to since I've been playing all this time with a DS3 :/ but my guess is that it'll pay off.

Does it improve the control you have that drastically? And will I be able to gold the license tests easier?
Some of then are just damn hard with a DS3

yeah it will take some time, I just switched to G27 2 weeks ago and my driving is not as good as I was with DS3 but I believe it will get better. With wheels GT5 is like a whole new experience, you should get one.
Expensive yes it is, at 1st I thought there's no way I'm gonna spend that much money on a game accesories that is more expensive than a ps3 itself but now I don't regret it at all

G27 mate...

It's so worth it :D

Yes the price includes pedals mate. DFGT does everything you need at a reasonable price, I have had hundreds of hours of racing on mine and it has lead to me winning more than losing compared to my controller days. Loads more control for your racing line and I could never go back to the controller now :)

A racing wheel, no matter what brand you get, will enhance your GT5 experience tenfold. So glad I got my dfgt months ago. I too cannot go back to a controller for racing. I tried the demo of Forza 4 with a controller. No way jose lol. The dfgt is a great wheel and I will use it for quite a long time but eventually I want to upgrade to the G27 for the clutch pedal and H shifter 👍

FANATEC GT2 Clubsport Ed. With the Rennsport Wheel stand is EPIC

you can have 5 settings pre tuned in the wheel it's self all through it's nifty LSD screen.

you can change anything on the fly

and driving the X1 is like Zeus is in your hands

I appreciate all the info dudes, I'll definitely consider it now for sure. I think I'm aiming for the one with the clutch. More authentic sounding feel to it IMO. So what if I spend all my credits on chassis rebuilds lol.

DFGT or G27 hands down.

To get the best driving experience from a wheel, keep in mind that it has to be properly mounted. A wheel mounted in an awkward position and/or unstable surface will only end up giving you endless hours of grief. Make sure you've got this area covered 👍

Go for G27, not too pro not too amateur.
The learning curve is steep! You will take some time getting good with it, at first you'll be horrible but you'll improve. The game stops beeing a game and becomes a sim.

This. 👍
You have to build a rig/cockpit of some sort. I wouldn't recommend buying rigs as they're way too overpriced.

I have a g27 and awaiting the support !!!

But for the bang for your buck you can't beat the dfgt.
