Hi Guys

Ive just qualified for the GT4 Nationals here in South Africa. Unfortunatly the rules of the competition state that all competitors have to have all of the above enabled. Now I'm not used to driving with these one. ESPECIALLY not ASM, which I feel counts against me as I have a very tail happy sort of driving style.

Can Anyone offer any advice other than the fact that I need to be silky smooth.

Regards

Ernest

Unfortunately, that's it. You'll need to practice driving as smoothly as possible. Any time the ASM or TCS icons are flashing on screen, those systems are costing you a little time. Drive to minimize their actions.

Two things I've noticed about GT4 - it hates acceleration while the wheels are turned. Try to have the wheel unwound as far as possible before you gas it. And two, it doesn't like trail braking very much. You're better off braking hard, straight, and early, then using extremely light braking at turn-in, if at all.

Good luck!

They might as well run the whole event in B-Spec mode.

Strange conditions for a "Nationals"...

Just turn the ASM on its lowest settings (1 for example), or turn just one of the ASM systems to 1, since technically you still have ASM activated. As for the TCS, do the same for that.

I recommend other wise. I usually put my ASM between 2 and 3 on the Oversteer and leave the Understeer at 10. The TCS I have between 5 & 6. These setting work for me on any car. It's all about your supension setttings as well. It's a 1 hand wahses the other hand deal when it comes to these two groups of setting your car. Try not to set the car ride hide TOO LOW and your springs TOO STIFF. Here's another tip. Try not to set the Limited Slip too high as it may cause stiffness.

Thanks, now that you mention it your right!!! And Ive got my trail braking down to the T!!!!
And the sweet irony is that is BECAUSE of GT(3) that I'm trail braking in all Car games, AND in real life!!!!!!!

Your right Zar, These conditions are ummm, STRANGE! My friend had an argument with the orginizer on saturday as his driving style is VERY oversteery, needless to say, he didnt qualify!

The race is held in Arcade mode, TC, ASM and AT. No settings, just bog standard!!!! The competition is run by Sony, AND a Cell phone company that obviously knows nothing about racing.... Still ,I won some cool stuff including a phone, and that Epson PS2 printer! :D

Thanks for the tips guys, will need to start practicing big time.

We had a similar competition here in Taiwan, was a collaboration between Sony and Ford. Grand prize was a new Ford Focus.

Yea, I also never heard of it before you mentioned it :grumpy:

How did you hear about it?

Thanks for the link 👍

Sucks to be in Menlyn - the game was released countrywide the day before the date

Obviously not :grumpy:

I race without ASM, always. I can't stand it personally. I generally race with TCS either on 1 or off, depending on the car and setup (I can't seem to get the measure of those standing starts without TCS on the more powerful RWD cars).

Indeed. I don't really see why they couldn't let you pick yourself, I mean turning off ASM and TCS doesn't affect acceleration and top speed THAT much.

Did they have DFPs setup or did you have to use the DS2 controller?
