Reading peoples threads about "my final thoughts", "what gt5 should have included", "omg ze zhadows" just makes me wonder if perception is that different, or we're playing different games. Sure the game has flaws, but why concentrate on them when the overall experience is as good as it is?

My guess is that they just like tabloid headlines and think they must have an "end of the world" feel to it.

Since i got the game in november, i constantly notice new things.

For example, the grass on eigerwand flows as cars pass, as being blown away by the draft caused by passing cars. Stuff like that just makes you smile as you see it, it's a tiny thing, but still!

The X1 (X2010) doesn't have windscreen wipers, so when it's going down lemans track in dusk, and rain hits, it creates a funky pattern on the window, it's as if you can see how the air flows around the car. As soon as it hits a corner, the water just flies straight off, as the air would take a different direction.

The FGT car when spinning out gets dirt on the tires, and it disappears after a little while on asphalt, just like it would in real life, i guess (not that i've driven any formula cars to try this out with)

The cars get filthy dirty, especially noticable on 9hr Tsukuba. Sides get greyed out, and you can clearly see the exhaust filth over the exhausts. Probably just a little texture being applied, but it's a little thing that adds up.

Experiencing Bob going from a loony not being to overtake 200bhp cars with his 450bhp, to a skilled driver taking alternate lines to overtake, winning the FGT, just a little thing, but it's the stuff you need to see to believe.

On the other hand, that same "skilled" bob will keep spinning out on the same place on the same track time after time again - he might be learning, but not from his own mistakes :)

So, this might not be gamechanging things, but these are some of the things i've noticed while playing (or watching bob), and for the most part, i'm like "huh, so they did this as well, that's cool".

Now, i just need to get a bob or to finished up to 40 then hit the signature competition in EU. Anyone have an XP-list on what XP required for the bobs to hit 40 (not a-spec/b-spec xp chart)?

Speaking of that Signiture comp, have you signed up for it yet? I have to bother my ass, as like you i'm leveling a few Bob's up first. What races are there to do if you have signed up?

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY a handful of little things to smile at! Let's totally forget about the major components of the game :)

Yes i've signed up. there should be a thread here with some pages of info. it's 5 races, total time is what matters (over all 5) as far as i've understood it. when you sign up you see the rules on how you need to place within your region to go to next phase.

@tdk: i find most things (major components) about the game fine enough to not bother with some of the quirks. but then again i see people complaining about things that does not matter to me personally, so whatever it is, it's subjective.

The reason people grumble is because they love the series and it pains them it wasn't the perfect beast we all thought it would be.

For every insane detail you mention, there is an equally insane oversight.

There is such a split personality in the level of quality.

And "omg ze zhadows", it defies logic that the same people who wanted those details you mentioned would rubber stamp the game being released with something so immersion destroying as those shadows.

👍

Yes, even though different people want different things from the game, GT5 has somehow managed to find a way to frustrate the majority of people in one way or another, or for some, in many ways.

Quite an achievement, and a real shame.

USually I would agree with you. I'm typically not a complainer when it comes to GT games. For reference, I even loved the hell out of the PSP version.

But in GT5 I find the concept and implementation of the XP system and the lack of A-spec events to be a fail of biblical proportions. It's just such a monumentally epic fun destroyer it is hard to forgive and overlook. It's not just some subjective minor futility; it's a massive, fundamental flaw.

All the rage and whine threads are deserved. Let's hope PD is paying attention.

Sure i hope pd is reading those threads, but they should also be aware of the existence of people that don't rage over the same things. From having done different grinds in different mmo's and online games, the gt-grind is "nothing" compared.

I wish PD would've gone back to the days of GT2 with the events. HP limits and tons of events with a prize car attached to each one. Besides that my only real pet peeve is the stupid side mirrors on premium models. I hate how they reflect the opposite side, it drives me crazy, I've crashed more times then I care to remember because I've been distracted at the red and white flash of the curb bumpers to the right of my car, reflecting in the left mirror. Now it may not sound like a distraction but the contrast of a reveresed reflections is something that can catch your eye at all the wrong moments.

Subjective? It's CLEARLY stripped out of features we saw in the old GTs, as well as its own PROLOGUE version ffs.

Yeh I agree, they have removed some obviously good features to make room for grass that moves as you drive pass (not as exciting as some people make out btw)

I agree with the OP in lots of ways, I too can't get enough of this game. Any flaws are bound to be fixed by DLC over time, just as if GT5 was on the PC. Question though... why is this thread in the Q & A section?

agreed, im afraid im guilty of complaining just as much as the next guy, but amongst all that "whining" as mani would say I love this game and thats evident by playing it every day i can. i can totally agree with the op in that with all the things wrong with the game there are so many things that i love.

waiting to see the Woodone Supra in the UCD: all of my november and half of my december

purchasing it then rebuilding it to prime: 700k + 500k

winning the super gt suzuka circuit in the rain: priceless

Because i just realized that the posts shown in the gt5 section is a "general" forum and not a selection of latest threads in the different subforums. But hey, i did toss in a question ... :guilty:

Does anyone else wish that the game chose your opponents for each race to match your HP/Weight like in GTPSP? not much of a challenge when I can just take a car with 400 more HP into a race. Wouldn't mind if they had an unlockable grinding location after endurances are completed like in the PSP version (eg. pick track, pick car, pick laps, race, collect earnings)

I can see all of the points made on this thread and agree with most of them, good or bad.
I haven't yet had a moan on this forum yet about the little things because that's what they are, little thing. The big things have already been covered by others so I have no need to moan about them.
All in all people have different likes and dislikes and expectations of this game so whatever content was added or excluded some people were going to be let down.
"You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time" - I've no idea who said that but it sure is true.

We may only have about 30 races in A-Spec, 30 in B-Spec, Bob may be quite possibly the worst racing driver I have witnessed, allowing people to pass him, not bothering to pass another car despite pretty much jumping up and down on the controller to hit overtake, he may wait for the entire field to pass him if he goes off track, and he may muck up in the same place lap-after-lap; we may only have a handful of cars that are actually properly rendered, the rest really are just copies from GT4 and many are poor, we may not be able to adjust gear ratio's properly, or with the introduction of NASCAR be able to set up left and right camber angles, as well as many, many, many, many more issues, but we have grass that moves in the breeze, so as long as we have grass that moves in the breeze, nothing else matters.

Seriously, I don't get why people complain at all...

Or an X1 against car's worth 30k x]

I almost thought for a second there, you were making out that the grass isn't an amazing thing.

People aren't "concentrating" on the flaws - you've got hundreds of threads on the board and obviously people are going to talk about the flaws as well as the good things.

Your "question" is extremely disingenuous anyway. The game has flaws and you're acting as if everyone should just pretend they don't exist and never mention them.

No I don't wish the game was different as you can already do what you want to anyway, just pick a slower car from your garage. Part of the fun of GT is the choice between practicing until you improve or tuning your car to be better than your opponents.

There are enough special events and seasonal events which match you against similar cars.

Yeeey, i'm not sure what major is to you but my GT5 major components are fine. :)

So I figure you don't play A-Spec, hence you're not bothered by the debilitating XP system and the lack of events, not to mention the disappointing selection of post-2004 cars?

For how long have you been playing GT?
