-has no tire requirements listed in the menu.

I entered the race with racing-wet tires and got a message that I was changing to sports-soft as required by event. :odd:

However, when I checked my settings at the race screen, the racing tires were still listed as equipped.

It makes me wonder what tires were actually on the car during the race, but I don't have enough experience to know the difference in wet grip between the two sets in question.

I was in the lead at the end of the first lap of 24min nurburgring and didn't pit as the water % was at about 20%, but everyone else went into the pits behind me (i can only assume to change to wet tires as there was no other reason to pit after the first lap, I had more than half a tank of fuel left).
By half way through the 2nd lap the water indicator was at 100% and I was on racing hard tires. This had very little affect on the car at all, I was expecting to slide right off numerous times but it hardly made a difference and won by a massive amount.

I conclude racing wet tires are pointless.

I had the same experience as hejira, just kept driving when the others came in and I didn't notice a difference.

And with the races being 24 minutes trying to squeeze 24 hours of weather becomes ridiculous as it will only be raining for part of a lap.

probably worth mentioning that when i drove on the ring in real life this year the weather was different in different areas of the track, but it definitely doesn't dry out as quickly as it does in the game.

Same as me Hejira, it's useless to race with wet tires against AI. Nurburgring is very long so in some parts of track there should be more/less water in other parts.

With the NBR being so big the weather can be local. However GT6 doesn't actually do this, the weather is the same all over the track. But the rapid transition of the weather works in the favour of NBR at it seems like the weather is local there.

So for all tracks but NBR the weather just changes too fast.
On NBR the weather is always local.

I'd like to see a system where the rain has more realistic stay, this would require races that are a bit longer, I don't think 3 hour races would be unbearable to play. This way there would be a point of actually changing tires on NRB as you would at least do 3-4 laps before it started to slowly dry up again.

I was also experienced that but nobody gave an objective answer for this issue. For the indicator that stays left below of the screen, my tires are for wet surfaces during the race but the car slides too much and hard to take control almost every turn. By the way before starting the race, game messages me about tires changing to the recommended sport-soft. So I wonder if my tires are sport-soft during the race because of anomalous slide effect for rain tyres.

Also we made a race online with my friends and we select rainy weather on Nordschleife track. We all select wet tires and see our cars are not much sliding under heavy rain. But in the carrier mode I drove a Nissan GT-R Black Edition which is more powerful than BMW 1.20d and Honda S2000 that I drove in online race.

I couldn't be sure yet, is that a bug on career mode.
