Hi gtplanet

I have some trouble completing the 1st day of the rally lvl20+ series (special event), called Gravel Master (the one where you drive on dirt). I have bought the C4 WRC 08 car and bought all the tunning parts for it. But I can't handle it at all, the car is just sliding around (like very much in the corners) and I lag more and more... Just the race 1/8 I get 20sec behind...

I do not think I have grasped the point of how to handle the dirt races ?! I beat the next snow master and tarmac king with an overtime of 30 + and 60 + seconds, without problems (and with the same car)... But the dirt ones, I always just gliding around and loosing time.

I use a Logitech G27 steering wheel. I keep the tunning at the standart, have only bought and installed the tunning parts nothing else...

I will apriciate if you could help me somehow ;) Thx ind advance 👍

brake really early and do a lot of part throttle driving...gravel by far is the hardest of the 3 surfaces I find...

how did you beat the tarmac race? what car did you use? My car is a lot faster than theirs in terms of acc. and top speed., although my braking on the car is terrible, but handling/cornering is perfect yet i still lose by 10 secs each race unless if its a straight

Im stuck on the same bloody thing! I've beaten the snow and tarmac race easily but 11 seconds behind on the dirt. :(

Having the same problem but having said that, I am using a Nissan Sleighty '98 lol.

I won the standard Lancia Delta Rally Car. I used that. It has really high horse power compared to other rally cars you face, so on courses where there were a lot of straights I amped up the trans some and would win by +10-12.

On the shorter courses i knocked it down some. I found on the short courses brake early and maintain your throttle (keeps traction!) through the tighter turns like 1/2 long (I was about 30-40 in 1 degrees 40-50mph in 2 degrees) so you dont spin them. You'll feel like you're going slow but you should never lose by more than a second or so if you don't win it.

I was having problems with the car in the corners with this one, which i found odd because i did good in the rally licence tests. I turned off ASM and the car flew from there, the only other advice is already is summed perfectly by the OP.

I used the lancia delta s4 rally car, tuned it a bit 1 minute 45 difference over the whole 8 stages. Group B cars is where it is at.

This is the post to follow. I dominated the tarmac rally with the S4, and gravel I wa leading until the last stage, where I was 20 some seconds off. I started the snow one and was leading, but in the third stage my PS3 decided to go all YLOD on me. Try the S4 though and ease it through the corners.

Me Too!!, but even though I hate using assists, by accident I started the event and forgot to shut of the TCS that is on on every car by default(fail). I could tell it was on, the throttle indicator would show red and I would lose power exiting corners, but won easily. Then I shut TCS off and it was neigh impossible to come in anything other than last, so maybe this is one instance were assists can make you faster, a first in GT history for me anyway.:)

What Traction Control & ABS settings are best though?

Set TC to 0, ABS to 0 or 1.

After a few attempts I was still struggling to keep the pace on both gravel & tarmac, but with these settings it was piece of cake :)

I used the Citroen C4 rally car. I got it from Gold'ing the Loeb Challenge. Dirt isn't too bad, you just need to tap the brake to adjust the right speed to enter the turn, readjust your angle and throttle it though the turn. (some turns you don't really need to brake) Make sure you are at the right gear is crucial in gaining traction. By the time you are throttling through the turn, the angle of your car should be pointed roughly in the direction of the exit of the corner.

And do not use high TCS settings. The most I use is 1, but it's usually turned off. TCS just restricts throttle and makes it harder to turn. (You need your tires spinning to push you through the turn; TCS slows this down). ABS usually is 1, and the rest of the aids are off.

I have to agree with some of the others who posted. 0 TCS and 1 ABS is a good setting. Also getting the Citroen C4 Loeb Rally Car, with full parts. Just get used to early braking during these events. I was always 1:30 to 2 minutes ahead of the pack when I completed all 3 of the advanced events. It's insane haha.

i raised the ride hight all the way and added more front bias on the center diff, and sofened up the springs and dampers with the carolla rally car and it helpped a ton. was like a min and a half a head of second place buy the end. no tc abs 1 no asm or skid whatever.
