Rally Help?

I've been having some trouble with the beginner rally stages on GT Rally. Even when I think I've set a good lap time (no mistakes, minimal slow driving), I still manage to come in last by a fairly large margin. I'm driving a slightly-modified Ford Focus ST '06. Can anyone give me any help with this?

turn off your driving aids! they slow you down way to much when cornering and also lighten it up as much as possible 👍
 
Try something 4WD, and slow is fast - keep to the insides of the turn, one fly out to the outside.

Edit: Agreed - Turn off Traction Control entirely, its a frigging nightmare!!
