WRC 2008 is underway with the Monte Carlo rally, and so far is providing no suprises. After stage 14 going into the final day, the leaderboard looks like this:

1. Sebastian Loeb
2. Mikko Hirvonen
3. Chris Atkinson
4. Francois Duval
5. Petter Solberg
6. Gigi Galli
7. Jean Marie Cuoq
8. Per-Gunnar Anderson

Britains hopeful Matthew Wilson sits 11th but well within reach of some points.

Loeb is leading by over 2 minutes meaning Hirvonen will need to have luck on his side to catch up on the final day.
Sordo has been running second ahead of Hirvonen before damage to his car meant he had to pull out handing 2nd to Hirvonen.
Latvala retired on stage 12 after a suspension failure whilst Gardemeister had to retire his Suzuki with an engine problem on stage 14.

Next update will come at the rally end.

So Loeb, as expected, kicked his 2008 campaign off with a win, but on day three, most peoples eyes were on the battle between Atkinson and Duval for 3rd.
Ford boss Willson says he couldnt have asked for more and is very ppleased with the start to the season.

Final rally results:

1. Sebastian Loeb
2. Mikko Hirvonen
3. Chris Atkinson
4. Francois Duval
5. Petter Solberg
6. Gigi Galli
7. Jean Marie Cuoq
8. Per-Gunnar Anderson

Finishing as they were at the end of day 2.

Next rally is Sweden kicking off on the 8th of February.

I watched rallying for the first time in years today, the channel dave is just awesome.

Good fun, but I can't really get immersed until I find a favorite driver.

I was watching it too!

Its alot better on Dave than it used to be. I'm impressed and will be tuning into each WRC rally now for the first time in 3 years.

Good start to the season. :) I know the results already, but I’m still waiting to see the coverage of the 3rd day. Monaco rocks.

Final results added to post.

I missed it. :(

I saw Eurosport's half hour program tonight though.

Good fun, but I can't really get immersed until I find a favorite driver.
Gigi Galli

The bit at 46 seconds is the coolest bit of rally footage evAr.

The program is repeated on Dave at 7pm tonight. I missed it last night though I am sure I set sky+ to record it..

I missed it. :(

As did I. Glad I've now found the channel number for Dave now.

Oh, and Seb's going to walk it this year.

Here is a review I made of the rally following the Stobart Ford team.

They seem to be quite keen to point out that they have access to all areas.

I noticed that. Neil Cole might as well wear a t-shirt that says access all areas on it!

I like Neil Cole, and I am thoroughly enjoying Daves coverage.

Lol ay Loeb trying to run ovr Hirvonen:P He nearly pooped.

It's always Sordo's engine that breaks down.

Brilliant drive from Loeb but I really hopes Hirvonen will get up to the challenge this year because at the moment, unless the Citroen get failure or Loeb decides to go montain biking, it look like he's on his way for a fith title...
That said we always got the gendarmerie to slow him down.

Sucks Guy Wilkes still hasn't got a drive, I would have been interested to see what he could have done at the Monte. Definetly agree with Road_Dogg, unbelievably unlucky guy!

Haha same here! The only drivers I reconise are Loeb and Solberg. It was great watching it after soo long, definately gonna try and watch the Sweedish rally.
