After a quick trawl of the forum ive not found any evidence of a rally series, so! Would people be interested in joining an 8 race series. Ive had a think about how it could be ran so heres my ideas. Please post any thoughts you have or tell me if this is already being done!
The series would consist of 8 rally's, each with 3 stages:
Stages 1 + 2 (3 laps):
Normal Difficulty race from the Special Conditions races in GT mode. Only stock cars (un-modded) are allowed, but the cars can be setup how you like e.g. Suspension settings, gear ratios, downforce etc. No TCS or ASM is possible for these races and you have to use the correct tyres (snow/dirt etc.)
Stage 3 (10 laps):
Longer race using Arcade Mode race settings. No adjustments to HP or Weight but can use any tyres and set top speed as required. No ASM allowed but TCS is optional. Tyre wear to Strong(?) and rev limiter set for collisions. Havent thought how the AI should be set.
Points:
The positions will be decided by TOTAL rally time (ie. stage 1 + stage 2 + stage 3) and points allocated as follows:
10, 6, 4, 3, 2,1 unless there are more than 9 entrants then maybe go 10, 8, 6, 5 ,4, 3, 2, 1.
3 bonus points for winning a stage, 2 for second and 1 for third.
Time Scale:
It would be good to know what everyones stage 1 times are before moving on to stage 2 etc., so how about 4 days to submit S1 times, then 4 more days for S2 times, then 6 days for S3 times. Ie.
Monday 1st May; rally announced
Thursday 4th; Stage 1 deadline
Monday 8th; Stage 2 deadline
Sunday 14th; Stage 3 deadline
As this may mean people will miss some stages but can do rest of the rally, non submital of stage times wont involve disqualification from that rally, but you would take the slowest submitted time +5% as your time. eg.
Say slowest time was 6'06.000, your time for that stage would be 6'24.300
The list of possible cars is pretty long but heres a taster of what sort of wheels would be available:
Peugot 206 Rally Car '99
Subaru Impreza Rally Car '99
Ford Escort Rally Car '98
Ford Focus Rally Car '99
Hyundai Accent Rally Car '01
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI '99
and plenty more too! (there may well be 14 different cars possible)
As an idea of what tracks would make up a rally, here's one ive planned:
Stage 1: Swiss Alps (3 laps)
Stage 2: Grand Canyon Reverse (3 laps)
Stage 3: El Capitan Reverse
So, any thoughts?
