Rally special event intermediate help!

Hi,
I beat the dirt and snow ones but can't beat the last one...I'm using a Subaru Imprezza 2010 premium upgraded to 245bhp, soft sport tires, drivetrain upgrades and stage 2 weight reduction. ABS 1 and Skid on, rest of the aids off.

It's really weird since sometimes I feel I drive average but I'm ahead of them by 2 secs or so, then suddenly the next section they beat me by 5-10 secs with the same sort of driving.....

Any tips on how to beat this or is there a better car to use?
 
Use the Elise RM. Will rip appart that event.
 
I suggest you buy the Mitsubishi lancer super rally car 03, It leaves all the rally cars
 
Weird, with the same car i won easy, try all weigth stages, skid off, ABS 1 and TC 5 rest off.

I won against 2 lancers and 1 stratos.

I hammered all day yesterday with that same car and no matter what I did it would come up short.
Only ABS though and when I picked up the Super Ralle Lancer it killed it with ease.
I only have the last three events to do now and it looks like the Citroen Rally car isn't going to do against the others
so, I suppose I'll give the Super a try again.
 
I know that pain! It's not too easy if your car won't hack it.
I was lucky enough to get a used Lotus 7...er, Caterham 7. I knew it would and I got it because it's a good car to have. I had no idea how perfect it would be for the 246hp tarmac race! If you're lucky enough to get one, do so. It'll clear that race easy!

Do this. I was having the same problem with the Tarmac race myself. I was trying to win it with the same car I did the dirt and snow with. Big mistake, just couldn't do any better then third. Used the Elise RM and won each stage by at least 10 seconds without even trying to hard. Fun little car to drive.
 
Aren't you allowed 345 bhp in the intermediate stages? I used the '04 Impreza for the 1st two stages and it won those handily. Then, for the tarmac stage I wanted to use something different. I noticed my Nissan 390 GT1 Road Car was eligible (341 HP) and I used it. I won easily with that, but it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.

Also, sometimes the easiness of those depends on the competition. For example, I did the Expert (8 stage) level tarmac race with my C4 last night. There was another C4 in the group that was beating me before I realized I hadn't adjusted my diff from 50-50 back to 70-30. So I restarted and the C4 wasn't there and I won all the stages relatively easily.
 
Do it with a race car (any allowable race car) and it will be very easy.

Race cars seem to have so much more grip
 
I beat it with ease in a mildly tuned Evo X.

Drive like your driving on a normal track, but enter your turns one gear higher than you'd normally do. Turn in earlier and a lot harder to get the tail going, shift to the gear you're supposed to take the turn while you catch the car in the drift. I got a 4 to 6 sec lead each run.

edit: Don't use skid recovery or tcs, it'll mess up your drift
