Who here thinks that racing Arcade Rally Sucks. Even racing in Professional?

I've recently discovered it, and the only trouble I came up with was Racing the Ford Focus on Swiss Alps I, and the Evo VII on Tahiti Maze.

Oh yeah, and I was in the Ford Focus. :)
Practicing for my I-link battle... Even if I am going to wipe the floor with them. I aint joking about that.

I don't like rally in GT games , it's really not neccesary , and it's unrealistic too.. how can there be a real rally thing when the cars can't roll over and in rally stages you don't have laps...

You know, Robin, you never cease to amaze me with how much time and effort you waste posting utter, total, and complete crap. I have no idea how old you are but I'm picturing a pubescent 13-year-old with a pellet gun who likes to gutshoot squirrels. I'm here to tell you that your life is too precious to throw it away making such an ass of yourself in public.

Instead of a huge fugging signature that doesn't mean bollocks, why not make a little post that means something worth reading? You've definitely earned a permanent place in my Ignore list. Too bad there's no global Ignore list... at least not one that I control.

Go back to torturing flies and bragging to your playground friends about girls you've never even felt up, let alone slept with. Just quit wasting everybody's time, energy, and bandwidth around here.

Offtopic: Man, I don't like him either, but you exerted WAAAYY too much energy telling him that.

Ontopic: Personally I like the rally in GT3. But what I've come to discover, after playing Rally Sport Championship and Sega GT 2002 (both on XBox) is that GT3 does lack a lot of the cool additional effects. Vehicles should be able to get beat up and their performance should degrade because of it. You should have to pay for regular maintanence on the car.

But what IS nice about GT3, it's beautiful. The best looking car/driver game I've ever played. I've enjoyed more of GT3 than any other game. It has has a much more realistic simulation of vehicle motion - at least it seems that way.

And the PS2 somehow just makes things so much more elegant than XBox. An animal metaphore I would use ... the XBox is a wild boar in the woods. The PS2 is an eagle soaring in the mountain tops. The boar has more power, but it's clunky in its performance. The eagle is elegant and precise in its performance.

That's my $0.02.

Well the rally in GT3 is indeed with laps and your on the track with multiple cars at the same time, IRL rally is time trial... in GT3 when driving a rally it's comparable with the first time you go ice skating, or well yeah not the first time, but well say the first time you go ice skating but you don't go down, you just slide and slide, lotsa dust flying around... but you don't actually drive a car as it appears... oh well...

if you want rally buy WRC or so, the name of Gran Turismo doesn't really suggest good rally options, I'd rather see that rally option removed and have some more cool cars than the pretty useless possiblity to rally... 'nuff said!

im a big rally fan, i cant get enough. i dont think that the rally section belongs in a GT game but if its in there, ill do it.

i think the thing about the GT games rally section is that you can tweak your car in many more ways than you can in any rally game that ive played.

i do agree with you in that there needs to be damage to the cars steering, suspension, body etc...and you should have to pay for it. id love GT4 to have that level of realism not only in the rally section but throughout the whole game.

the rally is ok... but I've seen better. still its fun i guess. what other game allows your to take just about any car off road?

but I think i'll get a rally game to get a better rally experience.

is WRC any good?

I've been through 1 rally - Monte Carlo - in WRC. The game is not overwhelmingly great, but its not bad.

Car setups are minimal at best; nothing like GT3. Like "Hard, Medium, or Soft" suspension. There are only a dozen cars to choose from, if that.

The graphics are pretty good; about 85% as good as GT3, but with more tricks - like a real incar view - that are probably worth the tradeoff. The HUD is not nearly as good as GT3, and I found myself often going nowhere with the car redlined in a low gear, because the display is difficult to see at a glance.

What's missing is the feeling of speed that I expected, and the feeling of truly being in the car you're driving. I thought those would be a lot better and more involving than they are.

I've only played the game for 30 minutes or so, but I don't expect it will bowl me over.

I don't mind rallin. Kinda fun sometimes. But I like rallin in my Audi S4 it works great.

I've only had a play with Colin McRae Rally years ago on the PS. I thought it was pretty good.

The rally part of GT3 provides a nice break from the road/circuit racing. I like it and hopefully the rally section will stay in the future. I'm not very good at any part of GT3 and had to struggle a bit in the arcade section to win in expert mode. :D

if i understand correctly, there are 2 diff types of rally. Rallycross and something else. one of these is timed circuit laps whereas the other is in stages. i am not sure which is which. I have completed WRC and although it is not comparable to GT it has a few perks. for one thing, there are only a handful of cars but they are all officially licensed cars which took part in the 2000 WRC. and, most, if not all, locations are for real. the cars are not tweakable because they are complying w/ FIA or whichever body is in charge of the WRC. I think rally should remain in GT for a nice change so that for a different type of racing, i do not have 2 swap out discs.

If PD could have used the memory that the rally section took up in GT3 to make the rest of the game better

ie more cars, richer environments, more tracks, custom paint jobs, spoiler or body kit modifications available at the tune shop.

Then I say get the rally the hell out of there!!!!! But, sometimes it is fun to rally with people who are new to the game because anyone can do it very easily. Although, I bet I have rallyed only 3-4 laps on my own, other than the rallying I had to do to win the rally league,

I concur. I would love changing weather- maybe actually racing on ice & snow.

hmmmm
well..
i think rally should not b included...
cuz like.. they should focus on ONE aspect...
like if they wanna make rally, sure.... just make it GT rally version or somethin lyk that

rally doesnt suck, you suck.

First off, wtf gives you the right to say that I suck? I like the rally but the Arcade is too easy. I race professional in the Ford Focus just for kicks.

I agree with those of you who think that its unrealistic because you can't roll the cars.

well
i didnt like the rally in gt3 at first but now i just love it!
i think that once you manage to get the perfect drift its where you have most fun in the game - maybe not the most fun, but LOTS of fun anyway..
also, i believe there are also rally races in tracks inreal life even with WRC but the cars race in paralel tracks i think

But surelly everyone has noticed that AI in gt3 and concept dont drift in rallyes; they just follow the same lines as if it was an asphalt race.
The only real rally driving you see is on the demos of the licences - but that's not AI. Real people are driving those cars!

Of course most people probably go through the rally races in gt3 with the escudo or any rally car with a stage3 turbo and do just about the same – bumping into every wall that gets in their way but still managing to win even with great times; for those of you that do this there has to be damage and all of that, I agree – but just go play something else!!!
But if you do it the right way sticking mostly to the stock rally cars and managing to control your right foot when dealing with the tunned ones, then IMO there’s really no need for damage – at least not to the kind of damage I see in other games…

except for ppl like me who altho I dont crash much i rally I do use all the track and going off the road, as any rally driver will tell u, causes damage to your car :)
suspension damage
gear box damage
damage to bodywork for taking big jumps too fast
etc...

I dont know if anyone has noticed this, but the rally sections in GT2 are actually more challenging. Well at least in the Japanese and American versions of GT2, for some odd reason the Pal version`s rally handling was dumbed down and to a lesser extent the American version seemed slightly tamer. But the handling of the Japanese version was insane, but fun because you had to really be on your toes to get things right.

As someone said earlier, GT3 rallying is like rallycross not WRC. But I still want it in the game because I get bored of tarmac, its a shame the handling is so tame and easy though.
