Hi,
Id just like too see what peoples opinions are about rallying and how they feel it compares to past GT games.

My Opinion
I feel that rallying is very well put together, the graphics of the evening races where your dust is lit up by your tail lights just adds to the experience and the addition of a co-driver giving you instructions is a nice touch!

Personally my favourite is the snow rallying, it all just looks beautiful, how snow tracks are left and the mounts of churned up snow when you break and then the amazing GT physics engine makes you actually feel the snow crunching under your car.

I havnt yet tried the Sebastian Leob challanges yet (Just 2 more levels!!) but id like to see how everyone feels about them!

Will upload pictures of my races soon!

I have really enjoyed the rally part of GT5, I have finished the Seb Leob rally challenge and on the last past of the GT rally challenge

I would also say the snow stages are my favourite too, great graphics

I think rallying is so much fun but the FFB on my G25 pulls to much to the right when sliding left:/ I also wish my 240SX would have more steering angle when drifting on snow.

Ive just unlocked the sebastian loeb event but cant seem to do the first section, what setup and techniques did you use? :)

The Loeb challenges are very difficult at first. I'd recommend using a pad for them, plus TCS at 3, ABS at 5, and skid recovery. Then it'll actually be possible to get gold, rather quickly actually 👍 Take away the skid recovery for more of a challenge.

I love the rallying. I have all Golds in the Loeb Challenge, and for the GT Rally, I use a RM'd Subaru Impreza, with the track map turned off, using only the command of my co-driver to aid me. I'm starting to understand the lingo. For example, the lower the number when said going into a turn, the sharper the turn will be.

The Loeb Challenge will take some time, but it's easy to get all Golds on a Pad. Just learn the right braking in the fast zones, and then find a good line in the slow zones. This is a bit harder for Chamonix, though.

Playing Dirt2 and Richard Burns games I've had some difficulty trying to adjust to the new physics. One of the problems was with e-braking. To me it never felt natural. When trying to whip around a corner it felt that my car was trying to twist around the front wheels. :dunce:

I wonder how other people think of the dirt handling. I do think the force feedback if pretty nice though. :)

Hmm i think i used my Focus ST for the 1st part, and found turning into the corners earlier than you normaly would helped slide round them alot easier. I think i only got silver on them with my 1st try, then re done them using a Seb Loeb Citreon WRC car

Also turning down the TC i found helped me too, i set it to 2

Ive got those settings just never seem to keep speed through the corners, always go down to about 20/15 mph, probebly just need abit more practise! :dopey:

I set my TCS to zero because it was annoying that it kept cutting power while I was drifting around a fast corner.

That said, I'd say try the challenge the first time being cautious and not too eager to learn how to properly use the available grip.

I thought I was being to cautious the first time out on the gravel challenge, but I somehow beat the Gold time by 3 seconds almost.

Am I the only one who doesn´t like the phyics on the snow? It feels like you are driving on unstudded tyres. With proper studded tyres you actually have more grip than on most gravel surfaces. I find myself sliding around everywhere at much lower speed than I am supposed to, and understeering out of every fast corner. To proove my point, check is out:

Agreed the grip is pretty poor - but it's great fun with a wheel! One minute you're fighting the force feedback, the next, the wheels as light as a feather. It's brilliant fun.

I have to say I'm a bit dissapointed with the rally overall though. I was expecting the rallying section of the game to be introduced into the regular a-spec modes, dissapointed its only specials. (Unless it is in the a-spec mode and I havent unlocked it yet?) Level 19 by the way.

I think that it should have been a larger part of the game, like in GT3 when theres a whole set of races dedicated for rallying and maybe the tracks such as toscana should be inclueded in the GT rally special
