Okay, as most of you know, I'm in the process of building a beast of a computer and I need a little bit of help with what RAM to purchase. Here's a snapshot of what my rig is going to look like:

Motherboard
Processor

Now, the motherboard supports Dual Channel DDR400:
RAM: 4x DIMM for Dual Channel DDR400 Max 4GB
Will there be any problems or performance dropoffs from using non-DC RAM? Also, what is the difference between 'registered' and 'unbuffered' RAM and will there be a problem if I were to use registered RAM?

Right now these are my choices for RAM, the price will not be a deciding factor:

Choice 1
Choice 2
Choice 3

Thanks.

Definitely get the Dual Channel DDR, it does make a difference.

You will need unbuffered memory. Only servers use registered memory (and the first-gen Athlon 64 FX CPUs).

I would get Choice 1. Those Corsairs look pretty good and are 2-2-2 straight across.

Yeah I was leaning towards the first set, although they aren't Dual Channel, atleast that I can see.

Yeah I just wan'st sure because it didn't say anything about it.

It'll be a nice setup, no matter how you look at it. Congrats on the new system! :D
Thanks :). I've got the specs floating around here somewhere ..

Edit:
Hmm .. maybe not.

But here's what its lookin like so far:

3.2GHz HT P4
1GB dual channel low latency Corsair RAM
74GB WD Raptor
ATi AIW Raedon 9800 pro
ASUS P4P800E Motherboard
17" LCD Monitor

It should be finished (minus monitor) by August. I'm gonna have to wait to get the RAM, processor, and vid card until late May at the earliest and I've gotta get them in stages. The monitor will probably be like an early christmas present to myself, OR I might wait for the vid card and get the monitor ..
