RAM Question

As all of you know. Or some of you at least. My computer bites the big one. Integrated graphics and 254MB of RAM. Well. My computer only supports up to DDR266(PC2100) RAM. My problem is I can find same brand but higher capacity RAM for cheaper when it is higher speeds like DDR400. I have heard that I can just run extremely low latencies if I buy DDR400 (PC3200)RAM. Will it downclock enough for my computer? Please help as I will buy it today if it will work.

P.S. I was planning on buying 512MB to 1GB of it too.

Question is will your mother board support DDR400. Not sure if it will or not. What's the model of your computer? Know what Mobo you have in it?

Hmmm... my mobo only supports DDR266(PC2100) RAM. I sorta want to get a new mobo and some RAM and a nice video card. I guess I should just save up then.

I have always been under the impression that any ram that runs at a higher frequency then the mobo can support will only run at that motherboards speed, in your case 400mhz will only run at 266mhz..

Ok. I have heard that because of that, I can run REALY low latencies. I would buy the right speed RAM but the DDR400 is pretty much the same price if not cheaper.
