“A racing series governed entirely by luck? What could possibly go wrong?!”

The Random.Org Foodprocessor Series seeks to answer a very important question: how many aspects of organising a racing series can you leave to random chance?

6 weeks, 3 cars available, no way of telling what happens next.

Next Race:
TBA/TBA, 8 PM CEST.

Series scheduled to start mid-May! Unless, of course, it's now half a year later and the hardcore simracers of GT Sport have decided that they - unlike every other demographic on the planet - don't like activities where outcomes are decided by rolling 20-sided dice.

All times CEST.

20:00 / 8 PM - Lobby Opening
20:04 / 8:04 PM - Randomisation of track (for the entire evening), car and grid (both for Race 1)
20:05 / 8:05 PM - Race 1 begins
20:25 / 8:25 PM - Race 1 ends
20:34 / 8:34 PM - Randomisation of penalty system (entire evening) and car (Race 2)
20:35 / 8:35 PM - Race 2 begins
20:55 / 8:55 PM - Race 2 ends

Any and all paved track in the game can be selected by the randomiser, with all of them having an equal chance of being chosen. This will be randomised immediately before race start, minimising anyones chances of having practised in advance.

Each race will be using one of three pre-determined cars:

Introduced in the 1.19 update, the Renault Clio is a popular hot hatch and track weapon. This particular model is a facelifted version of the '15 model that launched with the game, putting it in the same league of notoriety as the Mazda Miata and Nissan Skyline.

Specifications:

Power adjustment: 157% (340 BHP)
Weight adjustment: 117% (1408 KG)
Tyres (Front): Racing Super Soft
Tyres (Rear): Comfort Hard

You read that right - maximum power, maximum weight slushing from side to side, absolutely no grip on the rear end and absolutely no tuning to try and tame it.

Introduced in the 1.58 update, the Club Sport was Porsche's offering to track racers in the mid-90's, with a focus on removing weight and adding power. But we think we can do better than that.

Specifications:

Power adjustment: 183% (541 BHP)
Weight adjustment: 89% (1099 KG)
Tyres (Front): Comfort Hard
Tyres (Rear): Racing Super Soft

You read that right - maximum power, minimum weight and negative grip on the front end, meaning it understeers like nothing else.

Introduced in the 1.41 update, the Mazda Roadster Touring Car is a road car. No, seriously, it is. Look past the racing seats, the racing roll-cage and the racing stickers. It's a road car. I mean, it's in Gr.N, it's a road car.

Specifications:

Power adjustment: 58% (118 BHP)
Weight adjustment: 100% (795 KG)
Tyres (Front): Racing Super Soft
Tyres (Rear): Racing Super Soft

You read that right - minimum power, minimum weight and Racing Super Softs all around, making for possibly the most uninteresting racing experience in Gran Turismo history. Bar maybe that one Yaris/Vitz race in GT3.

After the first race of each night, I will randomise which penalty system will apply to both races of the night. You read that right - the penalty system will be decided upon after having already raced once, making the first race a matter of bravery and a chance to game the system.

A full visual display of the penalty system can be found below:

Random.org series thing.png

Start Type: Grid Start with False Start Check
Grid Order (Race 1): Set by Host, randomised
Grid Order (Race 2): Reverse Grid Based on Previous Race Result
Boost: Off
Slipstream Strength: Real
Visible Damage: On
Mechanical Damage: Off
Tyre Wear: Off
Fuel Depletion: Off
Grip Reduction: Real
Tuning: Prohibited
Penalty Settings: All penalties off
Driving Options: Only ABS allowed

Q: Is this a joke?
A: Depends on what constitutes as a "joke". If you mean "joke" as in "I've started this thread exclusively to flame-bait and poke fun at the Mazda Roadster Touring Car situation", then no. If you mean "I specifically waited for April 20 (and proceeded to mess up the timing so it's now forever listed as being posted at 4:21 PM local time) to make the launch of a procedurally generated racing series my 10,000th post and I actually plan on hosting these races if people sign up", then yes, most definitely.

They say that, in space, no one can hear you scream. Much the same is true for T̵̖͖̰͓̦̹̠͖̺̗̰̄̐h̶̘͉̪̻͉̘͒̎͂̓̂̾̆̿͗͐̇͝ė̶̪̣͖̱̗̭̜̣̤̝̖̭̉͒̆̐͌͋̎̐ ̵̛͎̟̹̣͔̈̔́̐͐͗ͅS̴̫̼͖͈̠̹̦͍͒́͒h̵̡̡̘̹͉̬̣̥̗͚͕̄́̎͒͗́͋ͅa̶̡̙̖͈̯̩̜̭̓͐̚d̸̡͙͚͚̠̱̳͖̰͊̿̋͊̓̑͘ô̴̡̨̬̝̫̰̼̣͔̈̄̈͌̀͊̾̈́̂̚w̷̨̛̯͍̠̑̄̑̄̓̅͒̈́̅͒r̸͙̲̓̏́̀e̴̡̛̗͔͈̥̮̞̣͗́͌̐̉̉̄̈́̿͊̈͠͝a̶̛̪̦̩̮̩̦͇̝̗͈͆̈̐̿̓̈͑̎l̷̖̭̫͕̘̩̉̓̈́͂̀̋̐̆͑̽̑͛̓͜͝m̶̡̢̛̤̖̤͎̝͊̄͆̅̕͘ - a monument dedicated to the spirits - kindred or not - we've lost to the random penalty system.
