so what do you guys normally do, continue to upgrade a "slower" car or start anew on a stock "faster" car?

let me explain, i have a del sol SIR that i won in the beginner NA series. i have upgraded it quite a bit, it's pushing 273hp now, hence the reason i called it "slower." it's pretty fast, but i can't go that much farther with it.

i just won a celica in the amature league FF race, it already has 197 hp and it's still stock (haven't even changed the oil yet). in the end it will probably be faster than the del sol but it will take a lot more money and time.

i'm just curious what you guys would do in a similar situation. i don't really need the advice, both cars will probably end up completely moded out anyway. i don't drive the del sol much because it's FWD but at some point i will enter the pro races with it or another car.

The Del-Sol fully modded wont get you even very far into the mateur leagues, although I havent tried personally. I just find it to be pretty weak and slow with a fully modded 1.6L

sell the Del Sol and concentrate on the Celica. it's much more potent (i wonder why they included the Del Sol in the game anyway) and it will get you farther. the TRD Celica is one of the best FWD cars in the game.

btw, welcome to GTPlanet, hope you enjoy your stay! :)

well i used the del sol to win the amature FF race and there is actually quite a bit of stuff left to do to it. it's not my main car (i think i have 10-15 including a Z06 and esprit) so i'm not really concerned about the car.

i decided a while ago that i'm going to keep all the cars i win from now on. i don't really need the money anymore and the point of the game is to have fun and race, not earn money so i can buy food for my family. i've found that it's more fun to build up a car slowly that way it's a challenge to drive the car fast

note: i wasn't really wondering what to do in this exact situation, just using it as an example. what would you do? it seems like a shame to sell a car that you've put so much money and time in.

Agreed - probably the best stock Front driver (great fun in full NA tune) - the Beetle Cup car and the Citroen Xsara rally car are the best FF cars, though.

yeah, your objective (like prolly every1s except mine) is to progress thru the game and finish it. go for the better car.

I however am not interested in finishing the game and will pick cars that are not necesarily fast but ones i personally like, like the PT cruiser :)

ditto, ving. same here. I would rather keep the slower built up car even if it is weak it presents a challenge, & besides, sooner or later when this car becomes antique (by this game's standards anyway) I will want to drive it just 'cause.

keep the SiR, drive it in the FF / NA series for a while to buy parts for the Celica. i like to keep my cars undriven until they're finished...i normally don't drive stock cars unless i have to, or there's something better about them that way (i.e., RGT sounds better).
