Not always if you have a 1920x1980 screen. While the cars look nicer in 720p due to the increased AA, the backgrounds are noticeable more pixellated. I tried this on my TV and 1080p definitely looks more balanced. In general, it's best to select the native resolution of your screen.
As for TVs, I agree with those who say it depends on your set. I play on a 42in Full LED 100Hz TV with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 and GT5 at night time to me looks glorious.
But you haven't said what your RGB setting is.
10. Red bull X2010 ruins the game
After getting and driving this car, everything else feels like a boat or tank. The game is instantly boring. Only use to for B-spec grinding, don't ever drive this or GT5 is over for you. Trust me...

Full RGB should produce a better picture, Limited basically just removes tones/colours... with less blacks, the screen is obviously lighter, but you're losing image quality. It's entirely PD's fault if Full is too dark on peoples TVs.
I haven't changed it so whatever the default setting is....
9. Need that one car but can never find it in Used car dealer? No friends to trade or just don't trust others?
Use the birthday trick.
1. create new account with random email that you made up
2. enter birthday as current date and the year will be the year of the car that you want.
3. add your primary account as friend. log out
4. log in primary account, confirm friend, log out
5. enter game in your newly created account, use the birthday ticket to get car, gift it to your primary account.
6. delete secondary account and create a new one. repeat
the whole process takes about 5-10 minutes, keep creating account until you find the car you want and gift. You can only gift a car in 24 hours so make sure you find what you want before gifting or you'll need to wait another day. It took me 7 tries to get the 2J race car to win the historic race in B-spec. I also got a few other cool cars doing this.

Upgrade your PS3's Hard drive to an SSD (Solid state drive) Hard drive. They might be expensive but definitely worth it because it cuts your loading time in half, less heat, less noise and last much longer. I'd recommend the 60GB SSD, it's the best price/capacity ratio. Look for a video comparison on YouTube showing you the speed different between a normal PS3 HDD and SSD HDD. If you are a true hardcore GT fan, I am sure you have already upgraded...
In the options, under file management, there is the option to preinstall game data. The game did a big install originally, does it do anything to use this option?
As I understood it, that option is to reinstall that large install offered at the beginning. Like if you delete your GT5 install data to open up HDD space, and want to reinstall it later. I never used it, though, so I don't know for sure.Anyone?
