I've had a FragFX controller lying around unused. It has a rapid fire function that can be assigned to any button...so I assigned it to X, used some blu-tack to keep it pressed, and lo and behold, I have rapid b-spec grind mode enabled đź‘Ť. It constantly spams pace up.

Too bad the screen goes to b-spec level view after race, and it won't close with just x, otherwise I might have fully automatic grinder in my hands :sly:.
 
It would be awesome to make some sort of a mechanical device that every 10 minutes presses the button combo to restart a race...

Yes, but it might have catastrophic results if it would do the combo when the race is not over...I think it's Circle, X, circle, X
 
I'm sure that's going to work out really well when he starts crashing etc after your 10th pace up-command in a row...

Actually his doing well, mind you he is driving an X-1 on suzuka.

It has crossed my mind to mod a broken controller with a little microcontroller to build this. Have it give pace up commands every so often, plus have a timer I can set that it will start the next race after the timer goes off.

I would know the length (approx) of the race, and then set the timer for a little longer so it wouldn't accidentally reset.

Kinda sad this game has so much grinding that you have to mod controllers to play the game for you.

The restart isn't as key once you get to a higher level. I'm already up to the 4 hour races, and will soon be to the 12 hour races. At that point you just set a timer on your phone for 12 hours and start it over yourself. The pace up is helpful for making them less slow though.

Only problem is after Suzuka 1000km, which takes about 4½ hours, the race times are fixed to 4 hour, 9 hour and 24 hour, so pace up won't help much, since you'll win even without it.

Suzuka in the X1 gives better XP/min than the following two races (4 and 9 hour). The two 24 HR races are the only ones that beat it. The Indy race would actually be the fastest XP gainer if the AI knew how to pass, not kidding.

"I'm approaching a single car going 80MPH slower than me on a half-mile straight that's 6 lanes wide! Better slam on my brakes and get behind him!"

"Uh oh, now I've approached a turn, and the other cars have to slow down a lot more than me, now I'm going 120 MPH faster than them! This bank is still 6 lanes wide, but I should stick with this single inside lane and go the same speed as everyone else..."
 
My horipad turbo 3 does a similar thing, apart from the elaborate mechanical system!
 
They just need to lock the maintain speed function. When your team manager says mantain speed, that's exactly what you should do!
 
Since the PS3 allows keyboards, couldn't you just run a macro on a Logitech G15 keyboard? Someone with a G15 please try this. I'm using a normal wireless keyboard with a book on the enter button...
