By far the greatest infomercial I've ever seen is the one for this device that you attach somewhere in the beginning of your driveway, and it sends a signal to a receiver inside your home that beeps if something crosses the infrared laser line. It's meant to let you know when someone is coming into your driveway. Although it's still retarded, it's feasible to have for expected visitors, or even unexpected ones. But the infomercial commences to say that it will help you protect against unwanted intruders. What burglar do you know will go on the driveway, probably where there's at least a garage light shining on him, if not a street lamp? Unless you have a real polite burglar who wouldn't dare set foot on your freshly cut lawn, he's going to creep up along the outside walls like a mouse. And if that means stepping on your Busch-drinking, A-shirt wearing husband's lawn, than hey, life's a b!tch.
