Rate those threads!

This is more of a suggestion for the members, rather than Jordan and the moderators.

When you're viewing a thread, it takes all of THREE SECONDS to rate it. The rating form is in the upper right of the thread's table, and it's quick and painless. If more threads are rated, it would be possible to sort the forums by rating and actually get some useful information out of the list.

So how about it? Rate those threads!

That reminds me of a "special" note a teacher once left us students while he was gone for a day. He wrote on the board, "If you value your grade as much as your face, I suggest you behave properly and take all notes the substitute gives you."

OK, LoudMusic, what do you think of this? Every person who replies to a thread will give it a "Average" rating by default, unless they specify differently. Now, any thread that has any replies will also have a rating...

Sounds good to me. Maybe a rating of 2 would be better than 3 though. That way when someone like me comes along and rates a 4 or 5, it makes a bit bigger impact. Good idea though.

Actually i was going to suggest turning the rating system off. I've seen before that some jerk will poorly rate a thread for no reason. I don't pay attention to the ratings for just that reason. Oh well, just my :2cents:

Well, it's a community effort. If everyone chips in and plays fair, the rating system could be helpful. I can see myself sorting the different forums by rating instead of date.

Did this idea get scrapped? I can't remember having ever seen it, but I think it could complement the rep system quite nicely...

Funny thread. While it might have similar bonuses as the rep system, it may have the same problems as were mentioned earlier in this thread.

Wouldn't hurt to give it a shot though.

Don't feel silly - I thought I remembered seeing the function on these boards before, but not for a while... I've seen the thread rating function work on some other boards, but it is highly debatable whether there is any point in it here.... I spotted this thread and added to it because I wanted to know if there were any plans to bring back the function, but now that we have a definitive answer, this thread can go to join the great thread graveyard in the sky... (well, the internet, or whatever...)
