Okay, I currently have the Guitar Hero World Tour game and instruments. I also have the Rock Band 2 disc. I am considering purchasing Rock Band 1. I'm aware that the Guitar Hero instruments do not work with Rock Band 1. I just would like to know if the Guitar Hero World Tour instruments will work with Rock Band 1, if I import the songs from Rock Band 1 into Rock Band 2.

It doesnt make a difference, GHWT instruments do work with RB2.....the RB1 content is just songs it doesnt affect the game engine in any way whatsoever, think of the RB1 content as DLC that you dont need to download, thats all it is.


You don't need to buy RB1 mind, you can just borrow the disc from someone and use the export key to copy the songs, then all you have to spend is £3.50 or whatever it is in the US.
 
Thanks Ardius, I thought they would be compatible but I wanted to be completely sure. Also I did think about borrowing it from someone, but isn't that illegal? I'm only 15 and don't know how my parents would react if I did that.
 
No, if it was illegal they would require you to put in some sort of serial number, just like the 20 free DLC that they put out for Rock Band 2. So you should be fine borrowing it from a friend or just renting it from a video store or other rental service.

Well, you're paying for the rights to the songs themselves already with that export key..so no. In fact, thats why they made us all buy an export key - to counter people just borrowing it and ripping the songs, as well as to pay for the extension in licensing (as they probably only licensed the songs for 1 game - not two or more) and perhaps also to appease record companies who would have worried about such things.
 
Sorry for the late post, but I probably will borrow it now knowing it's not illegal. And also, Giancarlo, I was aware of the Rock Band discussion thread, but I was afraid of my question getting buried in all those posts.
