Hey folks,
Having done a lot of 600PP Suzuka and a while ago some 700PP Daytona, I've had a number of interesting things happen to me online because of the Rubber Band Effect (catch up mode, whatever you want to call it).
I thought maybe some of you could share some of the stories concerning this feature of they're funny, interesting or just plain irritating. Or even just to say what you've noticed.
I was leading last night in one race, at one point 21 seconds ahead and at the start of the last lap, the lack of grip was unbelievable. I managed a 2:25 at Suz-600 on the last lap and I didn't miss a braking point or go off anywhere. The first lap had been a 2:18 from a standing start!
On the flipside, in another race I had to answer a call from abroad so I didn't start the race and everyone zoomed off (sorry to the guy who ran into the back of me wrecking his start
).
When I did eventually get going again, the leader was almost a minute ahead and one of the resulting laps I did was 2:10!! Something quite impossible under normal circumstances. Still came last
Is this just much more noticeable at Suzuka where there is more chance of the field being widely spread out? I remember it used to be almost impossible to establish an unassailable lead at Daytona also.
All the best
