Re-classing of "classic" cars

It appears that there are now more classic cars in GT6 than ever and I'm sure GT7 will have more again!
To me, it seems inappropriate to lump all pre-1979 cars into one category.

For example, the BMW 507 from 1957 is not on a par with the Pontiac Trans-Am Firebird from 1979! Nor the Honda Z Act from 1970 with the Lamborghini Miura!

It might mean more work for PD, but it would be better if the "classic" classes were put into 5 year groups.

I think the game considers pre 1970 as Historic e.g. 1969 Camaro Race Car is eligible for Historic Racing.

I agree that there needs to be a system for defining or grouping the cars, but I don't think 5 year groups would be the answer. Ideally we could define the groups ourselves via better online options and also some kind of event creator to enable a more enjoyable offline experience.

I definitely don't want the game to continue to put increasingly inappropriate groups of cars together - the only way I can see round that is to let us - the players of the game - choose which cars we want to race together.
 
Actually, I kind of like varying car ages in a race. I think what would balance it out for both of our tastes would be more decade restricted races.
