What is the GTP Alternative Car Cool Wall? It's a place to nominate any car that would normally be disallowed from the normal Cool Wall (which closed in November). Such cars would be race cars, concept cars, prototypes, tuner specials, one-offs, and pre-production models.

Rules:
  • Each member is allowed to nominate up to two cars at once. Nominating three or more cars at once is not allowed. Once a car you've nominated is given a polling thread, then you are free to make another suggestion.
  • Do not nominate any of the exact same vehicles that have already been polled. I am not responsible for accidental re-polling of cars. It is the nominator's job to make sure that their car has not been polled yet.
  • Cars similar to ones already polled must have a significant difference that makes them a separate entity. If your nomination is questioned, I will tag you in a post asking you to defend your nomination, you will have 24 hours from that tag to provide a good enough defence, or you will be knocked from the queue.
  • Street cars are not allowed to be nominated. Only nominate race cars, concept cars, prototypes, tuner specials, one-offs, or pre-production models.
  • Modified production models from official performance divisions such as NISMO not are allowed. Modified production models from tuners that are unaffiliated with car brands/ unofficial performance divisions, such as Veilside, are allowed.
  • Coachbuilds are not allowed. These are being defined as a car that uses the unmodified production underpinnings, but has a custom built body.
  • Only modified cars from verified companies (Veilside, Liberty Walk, Rocketbunny, etc) are allowed to be nominated). Not just any modified car can be nominated.
  • In order to nominate a race car, the race car that is being nominated must race in a series (NASCAR, JGTC, LMP1, etc).
  • A nomination must have different specs, or be different enough visually from a previously polled/nominated car in order to be a valid nomination.
  • Only nominations made in this thread will be added to the list, please do not write on my GTP profile, PM me or e-mail suggestions.
  • Make sure to get your nomination right the first time.
  • If your nomination is correct, it will appear in the nomination queue below shortly after the nomination is made.
  • If your nomination is incorrect, I will list off what info you need to correct your post.
  • Posts that need fixing will lose their spot in the queue if another nomination is posted between the incorrect nomination and the final correction.
  • Cars will be selected in chronological order, so it's first come first served.
  • Nominations, rules suggestions, and other directly connected discussion only here. Save debates for the polls.
  • Please try and be original.
  • Fixed nominations go to the bottom of the queue.
  • Use the quotes provided below, replacing what I have put in for your own correct information.
  • The Cool Wall curator reserves the right to find a different image than the one the car was nominated with.
  • If your nomination is not in the queue, please tag me in a post and include a link to the post that contains your nomination.
  • You may change your nomination whenever you want. However, any changed nominations will be pushed to the bottom of the queue.
  • Race cars, tuning cars, and concept/one-off/prototype cars each have their own separate nomination guidelines. Please follow them.

Because it may be challenging to find certain information when it comes to concept/prototypes/one-offs, torque figures and transmission type is not required to be part of the nomination. However, if you can find this information for the car being nominated, please include it.

How it Works:
  • You nominate a car and it goes into the queue, assuming you followed the rules.
  • One poll will be made every other day.
  • The poll will be left open for ten days allowing member to vote on the five levels of coolness.
  • Polled cars will be placed in one of seven sections determining coolness.
  • Placement on the wall will be determined by a voting formula.
Nomination Queue:
  • 1969-1970 Ferrari 312 P nominated by @Turbo
Currently Up For Polling:
Poll Results:

The Placement Formula: Sub Zero is worth 2, Cool is worth 1, Uncool is -1, and Seriously Uncool is -2. Meh votes carry no swing weight, but they are included in the total votes. So you add it all together, then divide by the total votes, and that results in a number between 2 and -2. Now, The Cool Wall also changed under new management, and now has 7 sections, as seen below. These sections correlate to that resulting number. They are, in order: 2.00 to 1.56 (Ice Box), 1.55 to 1.00 (Sub Zero), 0.99 to 0.11 (Cool), 0.10 to -0.10 (Vanilla), -0.11 to -0.99 (Uncool), -1.00 to -1.55 (Seriously Uncool), -1.56 to -2.00 (Hell).

Lord Kelvin's Ice Box:

Total # of Lord Kelvin's Ice Box: 0

Sub Zero:

Total # of Sub Zero: 0

Cool:

Total # of Cool: 0

Meh:

Total # of Meh: 0

Uncool:

Total # of Uncool: 0

Seriously Uncool:

Total # of Seriously Uncool: 0

Hell:

Total # of Hell: 0

Total # of closed polls: 0

Other Info/Notes:

You are free nominate objects to be polled as soon as this thread is published, If over 12 nominations are on the queue, one nomination will be posted a day until the number drops below 13. If there are 3-11 nominations on the queue, one nomination will be polled every two days, until the number increases to above 11. If there are 2 nominations on the queue or less, the Alternative Car Cool Wall will be halted until more enter the queue.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or have suggestions, please feel free to notify me in this thread only. Questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions that are PM'd, emailed to me, on my profile, or in any other location will be ignored.

1970 Toyota EX-7 Concept

maxresdefault.jpg

Body Style: 1-door coupe
Engine: 5.0L V8
Power: 450hp
Torque: n/a
Weight: n/a
Transmission: 5-speed manual
Drivetrain: mid-engine, rear-wheel drive
Additional Information: The EX-7 was a 2-seat concept car made by Toyota and shown during the 1970 Tokyo Motor Show. It was an experiment (hence 'EX') to see what a supercar based on the Toyota 7 (hence '-7') racing car would be like. The mid mounted 5 L (310 cu in) engine was similar to the Toyota 7 engine except that EX-7 did not have turbochargers. The Toyota 7 had 800 bhp (600 kW) but the EX-7 was detuned down to 450 PS (330 kW) for road use. Transmission was by a manual gearbox as part of a transaxle. Double wishbone independent suspension was on all 4 wheels and vented disc brakes were used on both the front and rear. The body shape was similar to that of other supercars of the time, like the Mercedes C111, with a long flat nose blended into a long windscreen and a high rear with a vertical cutoff. The doors were shaped like a typical gull-wing door but unusually the hinge was at the rear of the roof section of the door and each door opened to the rear.

1969-1970 Ferrari 312 P

Racing Class: Group 6 Prototype Sports Cars
Engine: 2991cc flat-12
Power: 450hp
Torque: n/a
Weight: 585kg
Transmission: 5-speed manual
Drivertrain: Mid engine, rear-wheel drive
Additional Information: The Ferrari 312 P was a Group 6 Prototype Sports Car used for racing in 1969 and 1970. After boycotting sports car racing in 1968 to protest a rule change that also banned their 4-litre 330 P4, Ferrari built a 3000cc prototype in 1969, the 312 P. It was hardly more than a 3-litre F1 Ferrari 312 with open Barchetta, and later the closed top Berlinetta. The first registered race was at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1969. Ferrari (short on money) started only one 312 P (chassis no. 0868). Mario Andretti got pole position, and with Chris Amon, he managed to finish second. The 312 Ps returned to Europe for the 1070 24 Hours of Le Mans where one of them was raced (as opposed to eleven 512s). The car was among the 16 cars still running at the end.

The community seems to have made a spectacle out of this new Cool Wall, therefore it unsurprisingly will be cancelled.
